They gave a place which was like an air b and b. They changed from the main hotel to an apartment in a place which was very noisy and charged 1000 dollars more.

The location and the helpful concierge
The lack of responsibility.
Our suite had a connecting door to another guest-room that was not secured upon our checkin. The other guest walked right into our room. Management response was rather indifferent! Obviously that is not acceptable for a 5 stars establishment.
After the second call the reception sent someone to secure the connecting double door without any apology or explanation!
The next day we started to hear the conversation of the guests at the next room. Apparently they forgot to secure the door from the other side! Again my first call was ignored, I went straight to reception and played the sounds we hear in the room. They suggested if I would like them to call the guest and ask him to be quiet!!! Not the answer one would expect at high-end hotels! Turns out the connecting door was not secured from the other room.
Upon checkout I was offered 100CHF no apology and no acknowledgment from the management for the error. A rather tasteless gesture.
Mishaps such as what we experience must involve a serious apology and assurances of safety from the highest level of management promptly and directly to the guests before offering and money or incentives.
Also I found out that I have paid 200CHF extra per night than the rate that was on offer if simply just walked in that hotel. I had booked two months in advance. Yet I was assigned to one of the least desired views room.
The booking.com room description mentions “east-facing balcony overlooking Zermatt Mountains”. I have attached an image of eastern balcony “mountainS” view.

The staff and attention to detail! We travelled with our 2 month old and they made our first trip so special.
Friends booked the smaller hotel - petite cervin. I think the rooms should be labelled main hotel and separate hotel to avoid any confusion.
