Fantastic location and great base for heading to Hornli hut.
Our room (triple room) was very small and cramped. It was in the roof slope so we kept hitting our head on the beams. The other rooms looked nice but our room was too small and cramped for 3 people. For the price I don't think it was good value for money.

Very nice to come back!
I got the same room as last year, with a perfect view of Matterhorn from the bed.
Always smiling Eva in the reception made me feel welcome and I got my room even if I arrived three hours too early

The room had excellent view of Matterhorn and the lift for the Matterhorn glacier express was at accessible distance. The hotel is well located to different hiking trails around Matterhorn and caters good food and breakfast options (vegan included). The staff was courteous and friendly. We loved our stay here.
The hotel is only accessible via the Gondola as it is located at 2583 m , so you have to be perfect with your arrival time , be sure you arrive before 4 pm Zermatt time (last Gondola to Schwarzsee) else you have to hike (2.5 hrs) to reach this place.

Cosy and comfortable small mountain hotel in beautiful surroundings. Tasty food and comfortable beds. Very friendly and helpful staff. We climbed the Matterhorn the next day. You have to be in really good shape to climb the summit starting the day from the hotel.

Incredible location on the slopes at the foot of the Matterhorn. The evening calm, clear star filled nights, and glorious sunrises with noone else around were unforgettable. Location location location.

The location can't be beat. You are right at the base of Matterhorn. So the view from bedroom, dinning room or basically every corner is wonderful with Matterhorn as backdrop. And it is unobstructed, you have the Matterhorn to yourself. The room is just basic though.
Staff should be more kind and have some basic service mind. They just come to do they job and want it to be finished as fast as possible, seem like that. No smile on their face, not a welcoming group of people. They are not rude, don't get me wrong but they are just there and their gesture stated that I am busy, don't bother me.

Perfect location. Easy to check in. The room is big and clean, even though it needs to be shared with 5 other people, luckily they are all great roommates, and the magnificent view of the snow-capped mountains from the window is simply unforgettable. Both breakfast and dinner exceeded expectations and were very satisfying.
Guests need to take the cable cars to get there.

The location is awesome
- the most comfortable place is your bed. There's no other place to chill in that house
- the staff was incredibly unhelpful when we tried to settle our bill the evening before checking out: we've been told that check out can only be done in the morning and it seemed like they tried to make our life harder than necessary
- food is ok, nothing more
- prices for drinks are high. 5.- for tea is way too much
- the 6 bed bunk room was equipped with 3 hangers and 2 spots in a closet.

Location looks amazing
We werent told that the only access to and from the hotel was between 9am and 3pm until the day before our stay. We were only supposed to stay for one night and had an early train the day of checkout and because we couldnt leave before 9am we would have missed our train. The hotel was very unresponsive and unhelpful. They offered a room at their sister hotel at the very last minute but by that time I had booked something else because it was so close. No refund (even partial) was granted.

the food and restaurant staff were excellent.
the location in the middle of NOWHERE and you are at the mercy of the Furi to Scharzee gondola to be open in order to be able to move around the various hills to ski. it is prone to wind and you have NO CONTROL over when you come and go. understandably the front desk staff or on edge/short/grumpy because guests are often unhappy about this reality.
