Bad smell in the room like paraffin. Owner denied there was a problem.
On ground floor so unable to have an open window over night. Someone just walked into our room from a ‘garden terrace’
Gardens completely unkempt and overgrown.
Hair in the jam pot.

Breakfast was very good, quite above average. The breads were quite nice. The selection of cheeses, ham etc was good as well. Coffee was excellent. The staff was very attentive to our needs and knowledgeable. Location is perfect. The hotel's atmosphere is classic and exudes comfort. Tiling was very interesting. Shower was excellent. The tiny elevator adds charm to an old building.

The staff was welcoming and friendly. They helped us each time we had requests and were polite. It was quite warm that day and it was very nice that the room had already had the air conditioning turned on and was not miserably hot. It was clean and well maintained.

Went in May and the AC was still off, so room was rather warm at night. If windows were open then outside noise was an issue.

I liked the size of my room and the fact that the large bathroom had a deep bathtub; after traveling for 10 days and showers, only, it felt very luxurious to soak in the tub. It is a small hotel, old, but with character (1-2 person elevator that reminds me of old movies), and the location is within walking distance of anything you could want.
I did not find any of the reception staff to be very cordial. I don't know if this was because of a language barrier, but it should be addressed if the hotel is seeking non-French or Swiss speaking customers.
I worked in marketing and sales and am very sensitive to customer service. I'd want my staff to earn an "exceeded expectations" score, and to ensure this, have regular training and observation with them. Travelers have many choices about where they'll stay and are often tired/frustrated when they arrive at a hotel. A cordial welcome and a smile go a long way.

I was shocked that I would e charged $35 Swiss Francs for an hour if we chose to leave an hour early. Never in my 60 years of traveling until now was I told there would be a fee for an hour extension. Usually I would be told late check out was not possible or the hotel would give me an hour more if necessary.
The price for breakfast was too expensive for us so we went to a small restaurant with a total cost for two meals that were just slightly more than the cost of one breakfast at the hotel.
