- The staff was very accommodating and friendly! The highlight of my stay was the exceptional service. - Amazing location! Just walk for a minute or two and you’re already in Whyte Ave. The building itself is in a really good and safe location. - The lockers are spacious, beds are comfy, washrooms are clean. Free cereals for breakfast, free coffee, and they sometimes hold barbecue nights. They had two barbecue nights during my stay. - They have a game area, a big commonroom for lounging (with vending machines), and an area that’s ideal for working or using your laptop. Patio was big too. - Free WiFi, plus the bunk beds had plenty of charging ports. Free luggage/bike storage! Very very cheap charge for laundry. My roommate mentioned it being dollar something per load. - I wasn’t able to meet a lot of other people, as I was outside for most of the time, but when I do come back in the night, my roommate would tell me all about the fun stuff she got to do with the other guests in the hostel while I was away. That included sunset walks, exploring Whyte Ave, trying out pubs. This hostel is a great place to connect with people from all over the world! The staff also put up posters/schedules of the upcoming events you can go to, as well as must-visit spots. - Felt very safe during my stay! The guest demographic is pleasant. Students, travelers. Other hostels I’ve been to had sketchy guests. HI Edmonton is amazing. Coming back soon!
1.) I stayed in a 2-person bunk room and I found it very hot. Even after adjusting the window screen, no air would go in. I visited during early spring when the weather was rather hot and sunny. I couldn’t sleep for the first night and had to buy a mini fan the next morning. 2.) This isn’t the staff’s fault, as I’ve seen them clean up multiple times, but the guests tend to leave the kitchen messy and don’t clean up after themselves despite the signages that remind them to do so. For my trip, I had originally planned to just cook my own meals to save some money, but the state of the kitchen discouraged me. The kitchen is always dirty unless the staff steps in. The sink had lots of gunk,, even the bottle for the dishwashing liquid was slimy with cooking oil or whatever. I hope the hostel can give stricter reminders or maybe consider charging fees for violators.

24 hr service. Friendly staff. Nice sitting area. Recycling in kitchen. Clean. Kept my lunch in fridge for a week when I forgot it there until I could come back for it.
