I used the hotel ahead of the Edmonton City Marathon.
It is really close to the expo and start/finish line. I liked the ambience of the hotel and the city views.

Huge windows with a gorgeous view of the river on the side I was on. Spacious room and bathroom; comfy bed. Nice mid-century modern touches; furniture is well maintained. Right near the river and the park along the riverbank, too; I was only here a day or I would've taken advantage of it. Not far from Jasper St, so quite easy to get to buses and such (a main factor for me). (People online suggest avoiding Jasper St, but I had zero issues--no worse than any city.)
Great view from the main floor restaurant, too; food was great and service was lovely.
If I'm ever in Edmonton again, I'm definitely staying here again.
There's a coffee maker and a choice of coffee or tea in the room, but there were old coffee grinds in the reservoir, which affected the flavour of the hot water. (I've seen this at a Doubletree hotel too, though--I think it happens no matter where you go.) Not a big deal, though.

Location
Did not appear to be the cleanest. The staff at the front desk wasn’t always nice and the welcome did not give good information. The water was scolding, hot and hard to get it to a normal temperature.

Always loved staying here. Central location and cool layout
It’s getting dated and curious it has no fridges.

Wonderful
Beautiful river valley views, spacious rooms, comfy beds, friendly staff and a great location for walking access to some great attractions. Everything was clean, and while a bit dated, nothing felt worn out or ragged. The bed linens and towels were soft and comfortable.
It's a bit older, and shows its age in odd spaces, like the small TVs with the giant bezels. The water temperature in the shower was difficult to get right - what was warm in "tub mode" came out scalding in "shower mode"; and the sink taps slowly turned themselves off. But these are all very minor issues, not worth a complaint and shouldn't dissuade you from staying here.

Pleasant
The location. Rooms were clean alright.
It’s nothing too huge, but a water bottle waiting in the room for guests would really go a long way. The bald old guy at the reception could be a little more nicer.

It was close to the riverboat which we had booked a dinner cruise on. Turns out the engine didn’t run so we had supper on the boat and get a chance to go again but the room stay was great. Staff were awesome.
Restaurant not being open was a bit of a disappointment….walking downtown was an eye opener to say the least to get something to eat.

The view was fantastic
The breakfast was very minimal compared to what I am used to. It was no better than what is offered at Super 8. I was expecting more from a hotel of this calibre. Also, the landscaping outside was abysmal and unkempt. The Canadian flag on the pole was tied up and not cared for and in tattered.
