The hotel itself was well maintained. The room and bathroom were notably clean, with everything appearing in near-new condition. The suite’s kitchen area was particularly well appointed — a feature that would be genuinely useful for a longer stay.
We chose this property for a change from another reliable budget option known for a solid breakfast. Unfortunately, the reviews didn’t reflect our experience. The breakfast offering was underwhelming — limited to toast, cold cereal, juice, coffee and tea, along with cold hard-boiled eggs and some fruit. While the presentation was acceptable and the kitchen staff pleasant, the absence of any hot options made it a rather uninspiring start to a long travel day. We’d opt to return to the HIE in future, where a full hot breakfast is available at a similar price point.
Check-in was also less than ideal. The reception staff were not particularly discreet, speaking quite loudly in regards to our payment process despite other guests waiting nearby, and repeating information unnecessarily. In addition, one member of staff was wearing what appeared to be a coat from a well-known UK grocery chain, which struck us as rather odd and not in keeping with the expected presentation of the Radisson Hotels brand. A more consistent and professional standard of uniform would improve the overall impression considerably.
