The staff they were very friendly and welcoming.
The room smelled musty and water was dripping from the vents. The remote for the tv did not work. The air condition made the room wet even with the doors closed. Then the floors would be wet from the water dripping from the ceiling. It was terrible. Hotel needs renovation.

The hotel has a wonderful private beach. The waters are simply crystalline. The swimming pool is also great. Food is good as there is a great variety of options. Rooms are big and comfortable..
To be at Paradise Island is a plus.
There was no clarity on whether the checkin was at 3 p.m. or a t 4 p.m. I got conflicting information and had to insist to get a room as 3 p.m. as per the advise of customer service.

I come to the Riu every year. It's not the most luxurious resort but the staff and the location keep me coming back!
The only complaint I have is that the outside pools and bar close super early.

The staff were amazing and the food was good. Location was great. Although the facilities were dated, the staff kept things very clean and very accommodating. Room always cleaned with fresh towels.
The facilities were dated, my view was not good as promised. Saw a few rodents (ie. roaches) crawling across dinner table and floors during dinner at the restaurant. Had trouble with WiFi, it was horrible and hardly able to make contact with family back home. Our room got flooded from the cleaning, had to call mechanic to the room to address water leak and puddle of water on the floor prior to our scheduled specialty private dinner in which made us run late. During our dinner, guest were walking through and taking pictures during our private roped off event. No one to enforce privacy. Guest sat on balcony and watched us eat.

The steakhouse
Upon arrival being assigned to a handicap room without my request. I went to the front desk to request another room, they said I had to wait until the next day. The next morning before my room was to be reassigned the sliding restroom door fell on my guest (picture below)

Beautiful location, nice view from balcony, and friendly staff. Room service and mini bar were included at no extra cost.
We wished their were more meal options. There were limited menu choices to choose from. We preferred the buffet and the sports bar over all of the restaurants.

Disappointing
The beach was beautiful, the ocean was clear, and the resort grounds were well maintained. The location was convenient, and most of the staff I interacted with were friendly and hardworking.
The rooms were outdated and cleanliness did not meet expectations. The food quality was inconsistent. I also observed what appeared to be unequal enforcement of rules at the pool. A group of guests was throwing a football until Black guests entered the area, at which point they were told to stop. Once those guests left, the football game resumed. Whether intentional or not, the inconsistent handling of the situation left me feeling uncomfortable and negatively impacted my experience.

Breakfast was excellent and delicious! Great variety everyday. Dinner buffet was also fantastic!
