If you go there during the carnival, parade is happening in front of the hotel. That’s why location is perfect.
They can’t speak English in the hotel. It was unbelievable.

I liked that the staff worked quick to resolve issues.
The upkeep and cleanliness needs a lot of work. They should hire more cleaning staff because I know the ones that are there are probably overwhelmed. There is dirt and mildew in the rooms and bathrooms and even the breakfast utensils and dishes were dirty or had hairier fibers on them.

Hotel was gorgeous, loved the pool, food was good. It was in a good location to be able to walk to the Barro, where there are beautiful sites, the beach, and great restaurants.
The staff implied my girlfriend was a prostitute and wouldn't let her come back to my room with me even though we booked the room for 2. Beyond that, every time I left my room, the key card stopped working and I had to ask the staff to reactivate my key.

Location was good we booked this hotel because of the tour office that was in The hotel. And they where very helpful.
Noting to complain. When the AC broke the changed our room very fast.

Nothing was really good. There are other hotel on the same location.
The bathroom had a constant, horrible smell of sewage. If you left the door open, the whole room stank. The mattress was a spring mattress and bad, the pillow was terrible, thin and small. There was only one pillow per bed. There was only a thin sheet on the bed. For a hotel in the Portobello hotel chain, it was disappointing. Pictures are much better then reality. Nothing special about the breakfast.

The location of the hotel is probably the only thing that is positive to this accommodation. It is close to the main touristic points of Salvador, close to supermarkets, shopping malls and bus-stops. The breakfast is somewhat good, but some regional food isn't available. I'd expect the breakfast to offer more regional food so more visitors could have the opportunity to try right at the hotel.
The staff cordiality and preparedness did not impress, unfortunately there was a lot of disorganization during my arrival. The recepcionist did not look at my family before we did the online check-in process, he was rude and not helpful. I ordered a crib to be put in my room for my baby, but there was no crib. Instead there was a single bed, which my 8-month old baby couldn't use. I asked for the crib and they moved us to a different room with a crib, but this new room was smelling terribly like strong bug spray. In addition to that, the hotel valet helped us moving to the new room did not show any happiness helping us, actually I had to put all my family luggage in the cart. After being moved to the new room, we asked to move again to the previous room because the first one wasn't smelling bad. We used the hotel parking garage, but we had no key or remote control to access the garage. We had to buzz an electronic doorbell that took ages for someone to show up and open the garage doors.

I would say the food service was great, the beds were comfortable to sleep in, the staff were excellent. The property was in between all shops and bars which is convenient for a night out.
I would say I didn’t like the rooms that were given to me first since it was faulty. The window was broken, the walls weren’t properly painted, the maintenance in the bathroom was poor. I believe that the photos online were contrary to what was seen in real life.

It’s very well located for carnival purposes. The gym is updated and the staff is friendly.
My room was basically old and falling apart. The flush wasn’t working properly, the shower handles fell of on the first day and the room has little to no noise isolation

I recently stayed at Portobello Ondina and unfortunately, my experience did not meet my expectations based on the price point.
During check-in, I found the front desk staff to be a bit hurried and not as welcoming as I had hoped. A friendlier approach could have made the process more pleasant.
The room itself left something to be desired, particularly the bathroom, which had visible mold in the corners. This raised concerns about cleanliness that I believe are important for any hotel. Additionally, I noticed there was no iron available in the room, which was a minor inconvenience during my stay.
Given the high rate, I anticipated a higher standard of quality. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t be able to recommend this hotel to those seeking a comfortable and clean accommodation.

Lovely room, nice view, big bed. Staff was really nice and accommodating. We liked the pool, sauna and gym. Really good breakfast too.
The bathroom is a little bit small, good for one person, not so good for two trying to get ready at the same time. Also the tv wasn't the best, a little outdated.
