The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They prepared breakfast every morning with a lot of options and you can also had eggs and tapioca freshly made. The room is a little small but has everything you need. The upstairs terrace is very relaxing. The location is great!

I was put in a small single room, which situated near reception was noisy from 6 am to 11 pm.
I asked to move to another room, and was initially told this was unavailable. Only when I showed that the better room was actually available, and being advertised onBooking.com, was I able to move, for one night only and then for the second night when I repeated the process. It seemed that the hotel was using me to fill the small unpopular room (which was in the event only marginally cheaper than the far superio double room upstairs)

Super location, centrally located in Barra. A green oasis, very friendly staff and manager. Rooms without veranda are a bit musty. Good price-performance ratio.

The staff was exceptional, welcoming and always with a smile on their face. Great breakfast.
Cleanliness, dirty towels, broken and very small bathroom.
We stayed during carnival week, the hotel price was 10x more (expected), although for what we paid, we were expecting the level of cleanliness to improve. Room was not cleaned properly, towels very old and still dirty :( . We had to ask for towels regularly as always coming back from Carnival parties super sweaty.
The bathroom is tiny, water from the shower was leaking everywhere as the bottom edge was broken. We asked several times for more towels to avoid water going everywhere.

The garden visited by bords and monkeys,
the staff, extremely kind, friendly and attentive,
the atmosphere, handled with care and generosity,
the breakfast, abundant and tasty.
the check in schedule asked for patience…
and the cleaning could easily be improved although the staff promptly answered my need for a cleaner floor/room.

The location of the Pousada is pretty good and some facilities can be used just by walking. The staff were receptive to us and the breakfast was great.
Some maintenance could be carried out on the shower to stop it leaking onto the bathroom floor, also the door to the balcony wouldn't stay closed unless the bed was pushed up against it.
However these matters now seem somewhat trivial compared to my wireless iPhone headphones being swapped out for a dirty set of alto headphones. VERY DISAPPOINTING. Perhaps not keeping guest's room keys in an easily accessible place may help stop this in the future.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, also breakfast was good and offered different choices every day. Location was great.
The facility was really humid, bathroom could do with a revamp to make it less moist. After showering, bathroom would stay wet until cleaning on the following day.

The staff at Papaya are excellent... Lead by Marco and Wenseley, Magda, Alain et al are always available with a smile to respond. The breakfasts are great and the location cannot be beat... Close to both Barra beaches, restaurants, and attractions including the not to be missed lighthouse and museum inside. The common areas with lounge and garden are a treat to return to. As pousadas go this is 5star..... just be aware that the constant humid, sea air takes its toll on the appearance of the facility in some areas.
I highly recommend Papaya Verde.
