Wonderful
Exceptional location, big rooms, comfortable beds and pillows. Breathtaking views, awesome rooftop. They left a complimentary cake and a note for my birthday in the room. Breakfast was abundant. They were accommodating with early check in. Plenty of places to eat and shop around!
After spending several days there breakfast can be repetitive.

Location is very good.
The hotel has so many rooms, so there is a lot of people. The common area like the swimming pool is small for the amount of people, so its ALWAYS crowded.

Great location, staff was helpful
Had a few flies in the bathroom sink, one was by my ear one night and killed a white fly on the bathroom mirror

The location is exceptional. I guess it’s the best choice in Copacabana.
Some renovations are needed, AC was making some noise and the Glass needs to be cleaned either at the pool or in the rooms for better view.

Disappointing
I like the location. The rooftop bar is cool.
Long lines to check in and out I didn’t like how crowded the rooftop was. The rooftop was also doing an event which was slowing down the bar extra staff would’ve been better. It took 35 minutes to get one drink. The rooms are outdated, and the beach view they gave me was a side view from not directly from.

Excellent location and beautiful views. Breakfast on the 30th floor was very nice.
Our suite was very old with much wear and tear that cleaning will not remove. This is not my idea of an executive suite, so not sure it’s worth the money.

Very Poor
I was very disappointed with my stay at Rio Othon Palace.
While the location is excellent, the overall experience was far below expectations. I spent nearly R$10,000 (around $2,000 USD) for a 6-night stay, which is very expensive considering the number of issues we faced. Compared to other luxury hotels on Av. Atlântica in Copacabana, this hotel is clearly overpriced for what it offers.
There is no air conditioning in the lobby or elevators, which makes it extremely uncomfortable, especially in Rio’s heat. The elevators are very slow, overcrowded, and take a long time to go up and down.
The service was one of the biggest issues. Security staff were very disrespectful—my sister came to visit me and was stopped at the entrance and interrogated for no clear reason, while other guests were not treated the same way. This was embarrassing and unacceptable.
Additionally, a receptionist with short hair at the front desk was rude and disrespectful to my wife when she went down to bring my sister upstairs.
I personally went to speak with the manager on Monday at 10am, but was informed that no manager was on site. I was told that a manager would contact me afterward, but no one ever did. This lack of accountability is very unprofessional.
The breakfast was another major disappointment. The food quality is low, and the area is always overcrowded. Even though I paid for breakfast included, my family and I ended up eating elsewhere every day.
On top of that, the shower water was not getting hot during the weekend, and the bathroom sink was constantly clogged.
Overall, this hotel does not meet the standards expected for its price or reputation. Great location, but poor service, poor maintenance, and lack of professionalism from staff.
I would not stay here again.
Only the location.

Location is central. Breakfast was set as a large dining hall, reminds me of college.
The hotel needs a complete renovation. The bones are great, but it is in very used condition.

Fair
Breakfast was really good! The views from the room were gorgeous, and the location is very central and close to good restaurants. It was also great to have access to chairs and umbrellas at the beach! Towels at the beach and by the pool are also a great touch.
We stayed from March 11 to 13, 2026. There were two couples, each with our own reservation for rooms with a lateral sea view, celebrating one of the couple's wedding anniversary. Upon arrival, we encountered an issue with the elevators, they were not working. We arrived at 2:00 PM but were unable to access our rooms on the 26th floor until 9:00 PM. The hotel offered a late checkout as compensation, but we were hoping for a refund for the first night, which they did not provide. In addition, the air conditioning in the room wasn't powerful enough to keep the temperature comfortable—it was always a bit too warm. The "welcome song" played endlessly in my room, and I had to call maintenance to turn it off. Finally, the shower drain didn't work properly, causing water to pool during showers and taking about 30 minutes to fully drain. After our stay, we tried to get information from the hotel to file a claim with our travel insurance, but they did not provide the necessary documents, which was very disappointing. These may seem like minor issues, but given the high price, I expected much more. The overall experience fell well below expectations for the cost, and the lack of proper compensation (which should have been a refund for the first night) for the time we were unable to access the room we paid for was extremely disappointing.

Pleasant
Breakfast was great, and the location is absolutely fantastic - the view from the room was also pretty amazing. Nonetheless, for the price we paid to stay for 2 nights, we would have hoped for top-notch service and facilities.
On the day of arrival, we experienced an issue with the elevators; they were not working. We arrived at 2:00 PM but were unable to access our rooms on the 26th floor until 9:00 PM. The hotel offered a late checkout as compensation, but we had hoped they would reimburse us for the first night, which they did not. We were hoping they would provide a declaration explaining the situation so we could claim our travel insurance - they also did not provide such documentation. Additionally, the air conditioning in the room wasn’t strong enough to keep the room at a comfortable temperature; it was always a bit too warm in there. The "welcome song" played nonstop in my room, and I had to call maintenance to have it turned off. Finally, the shower drain was not working properly, so water would accumulate during showers and take a solid 30 minutes to fully drain. These may sound like minor issues, but given the price tag, I was expecting a lot more.
