Hotel was fine. what you expect from a Marriott so could have been anywhere but reliable plumbing, comfy bed etc. staff were pleasant. pool area OK.
We got mugged at gun point less than 5min from the hotel. Not their fault and one member of staff was amazing, took us to the police station etc but we were later told it had happened a few times...no one told us when we arrived or we wouldn't have walked! And despite having no money or phones the manager refused to sort a free airport transfer. So not the best end to the trip.

Very very long wait at the check in. The room was not ready even at 4:30pm. They did offer coffee and croissants while we had to wait. For such a large hotel they should have more reception staff.

The staff were excellent and very accommodating.
The location is out of the way. The only way to get to the hotel is to go past the hotel, head south, then turn around and come back to the hotel. Plus nothing really close to it for us ... unless you are using some of the sporting complexes nearby.

Staff was really friendly and helpful, the bed and pillows are super comfy, the pool area is lovely.
The restaurant is not particularly good for dinner although breakfast was nice with plenty of options

The breakfast was great, and the people working there were some of the best, especially a few folks I would name here: Gabriela, Amanda, Rui, Geovan, Bianca, Monique, and Carlos. On top of this, the people at the reception were also great, especially Laura, Daniel, Hugo and Mayra. I could tell stories about each of them during my stay there, such a pleasure staff.
The hotel location is good if you have a car or are ok to take Ubers every where. I rent a car and was able to leave in front of the hotel for free, but they also have a valet that could park for you. It's close from the Barra da Tijuca beach, but not too close you could walk.
There is a BRT station right in front but it's a bit scary to get there specially at night, no one is around.
I would like to have free water, I had to fill my bottle every day on the gym or on the breakfast. The pool and the gym was close too early, by 8PM.

Staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Kudos to Auguste at the Bistro and Stephanie who assisted with the check in. And all the restaurant staff.
Breakfast was hearty. Appreciated the hot station, and the fresh fruit selection.
Spacious living area as we had the one bedroom suite.
Took much longer to get into town or the nearby shopping area than expected. Traffic is bad. And the hotel is located around a bend so the drivers all need to do a separate turn around to get to and from the hotel. Room was a little dusty. No bedroom slippers.

Otherwise fit the description and stars, even the staff spoke English ;)
everything was fine except for the wifi (it took 10-20 minutes to connect each time). And the ATM was not working.
