Gilberto is an excellent host. He patiently stuck with me when my credit card was declined several times, then he met us at when we arrived at the apartment and gave us many good suggestions for restaurants, beaches and sights. The apartment is lovely, roomy and immaculate. The beach is 5 minutes walk. There are lots of restaurants and shops nearby. There is also a very helpful 24 hour guard at the desk in the lobby.
We have delayed visiting Rio because of all the reports of criminal activity but this area was completely safe. Each building had a guard that spent time in front and at no time did we see any trouble makers on the street. Even in the evening we felt totally safe.
I wished that all the windows didn't look out on the sides of other buildings.

Gilberto's place is by far the best apartment style accomodation I have ever used in Rio. The standard is much higher than the average. The apartment is large, comfortable, with two good bedrooms and two bathrooms, and a very nice living room. The pictures are a perfect match to reality.
Location is great. All those side streets in Leblon are the best Rio has to offer. Quiet, very close to the beach or the "Lagoa" - if you are a runner you will be spoiled for choices, between 2 of the most scenic running routes around.
This being Leblon, there are lots of bars and restaurants around, and plenty of grocery shops, juice bars, etc.
AND, very important for me, the wi-fi is good. I worked most of my time there, with a non-stop sequence of Zoom calls, and only occasionally I had to shutdown the camera.
I give GIlberto's place a clean pass on this one. The things that I don't like about Rio are not his problem.
But be aware, that differently from most apartments that I stay, this one has nothing beyond soap in the bathrooms. So if you want coffee, sugar, shampoo, and the like, make sure you pick them up. With the current exchange rate, it is better to buy them once you arrive. The flat is steps away from a giant "Pao de Acucar" supermarket, with a great selection of anything you might possibly need.
