It took the staff 1 hour to check us in after a 12 hours flight, although there was no queue for the check in !
None of them speaks english, which made the communication difficult.
Once we finally accessed to the room, there was black stains on the fridge, a lot of humidity in the room and air conditioning barely working. We were two with just one towel in the room. We were supposed to stay there again a few days after but decided to cancel the reservation.

Educated staff
Conservation is poor. No hot water availble tue three times I took a shower, signs of very poor maintenance, elevators with broken buttona, worn out carpet.
They should charge more but keep the hotel in a good condition. This is the wordt Ibis I’ve ever been to.

I liked the buffet they served every morning for breakfast. The room was ok, nothing extraordinary
I didn’t like the fact that I reserved a room for 1 person by mistake and we were 2, and then I had to pay $100 difference when in the app the difference to add one more person was only $60. They didn’t even care and I even struggled to speak their language. Rooms don’t have ventilation in the bathroom or at least mine didn’t, some of the staff were a little rude, even when greeting to customers in the morning, straight up mad faces. Also, apparently it is located in a blind spot for Uber drivers, cuz they couldn’t make it on time, got at least 2 cancellations each time I needed one.

The staff kept opening the door to my room without knocking, waking me up four times. Eventually, I packed up, canceled my second night, and left. The mattress was stained (honestly, it was disgusting), you could hear everything from the next room, and I just felt really down during my stay. I’m surprised that Ibis can’t afford to improve their room decor.

it is close to the USA EMBASSY , the lady at from desk, did mistake in my check in( so confused) i did reserved 2 rooms for 3 adults and 2 children,the lady said my request was for 3 rooms for 3 people, and the end she confused my name with someone else, when we got into the room we saw the bed doesn’t have sheets on it, i asked for the same lady to sends someone to help, she gave me the sheets to i do by myself ( unbelievable but true), in the morning next day i paid for breakfast and all the time someone comes to me telling me breakfast is not included ( that why i paid for it separately) in my room the hot water doesn’t work, so we decided to leave the hotel, i hope never need to go back there again.

I loved the staff and the central location... The hotel needs urgent repairs and maintenance. The food was decent but never changed at all during my stay.
The aircon in the room was great with low noise but other rooms were not so lucky. The TV could have had better channel selection and entertainment. I guess since I also host a huge property in Johannesburg, South Africa I would have expected something similar at the price-point paid.
The shower cleanliness was quite poor.

I stayed at the Ibis centro for one week during the carnival and I find the location really convenient. It is quite close to the metro station, the main street where street carnivals were organized, the weekend market, and many good places to eat and to see.
Good breakfast and lunch & dinner offers are quite reasonable.
Two ironing rooms in the hotel.
Bring bath gel with you because only shampoo and hand cleansing gel are provided.

- Really comfortable bed
- Friendly staff
- Restaurant downstairs a convenient option, if not a bit overpriced
- Good location for the city centre, about 15 minute walk to Lapa and to Carioca metro station and 5 minute walk to some cool bars like Scenarium. Never felt especially unsafe in the area.
- Price was a bit high for what it is, although this was probably due to it being Carnaval
