The location was perfect, easy to get explore and safe; the staff were friendly and informative; the environment is chill, quiet, and comfortable; the facilities are clean and easy to move around in.
The hallway light shines into the room whenever the door opens at night, which was a bit disruptive. The room also felt warmer than expected even with the AC running.

The staff were welcoming and the place was rather clean for a dormitory.
There is a common kitchen and a workspace.
The towel was not included and I had to pay to get a towel. Also the price was double the other dormitories in the area however the breakfast was very basic.

Very well located, clean and safe. 24 hour-reception and nice staff. Access to a small kitchen, including a water filter to refill our bottles. Nice breakfast.
Our room was right beside the breakfast area and the reception and from around 6 AM we could only sleep with ear plugs because of the noise there.

Great location near Copacabana beach & Ipanema beach. Excellent breakfast included coffee, bread, meat, cheese, cereal, milk, fresh fruit, etc. Clean bedrooms and bathrooms with showers. Good storage lockers under beds (they give key). Great, very friendly staff. 24 hour front desk. Loved this hostel!

The location is good, just between Ipanema and Copacabana, so you can explore both neighborhoods easily. It's even better to go, for example, to Pedra da Gavea, hanggliding and the Rocinha Favela Tour because it's closer than from downtown!
Lots of bathrooms as well, so you don't have to wait.
You get a towel, a sheet and a thicker blanket. Sockets and shelf directly at the bed.
Lockers are huge to put even your bigger bagback in, so the room is always tidied up.
I booked the host especially for the curtains I saw at the photos on Booking.com. Apparently those are just in 6 bed dorms, not in the 8 bed dorms..unfortunately there are no photos if you select an 8 bed dorm, so how should you know?! If you have your own small light at the bed, it's nice to have curtains as well to avoid disturbing the others from the brightness.
At one night, the guy from the reception came to check in another person. He switched on the big light at half past midnight and talked loudly to the new guest. This is an absolutely NO-GO and disrespectful, especially if the rules hanging at the wall telling you to respect quiet time and it's not pitch dark in the room!!
Space in rooms is cramped, luckily you got those big lockers!

The staff was really friendly and helped me through a technical problem at the arrival! In addition to that the hostel (inclusive my room) was tidy & clean. The position is perfect for visiting the Copacabana and Ipanema Beach and area.
I totally recommend the Matianellu Hostel!

Great hostel in Rio, the place is very well located in a safe neighborhood between Copacabana and Ipanema and it is super clean; the staff is lovely, the breakfast and the wifi are correct.. good value for money!
