Absolutely amazing suite overlooking the ocean. Beautiful and expansive lobby with bar, cafe and vendors, and lots of places to sit and relax. Right across from quiet beach, great gym and spa!
Waitstaff and servers didn't speak any English at all.

the kiosk in front of the beach
This property is overrated. It's a 5-star hotel that receives guests from all over the world, and the breakfast buffet is the same every day. There's no variety, no coffee machine, and no selection of juices. If you want an omelet early, before 7 am, no one will serve you, and if you complain at reception, they tell you to do it at the restaurant because they're separate businesses, as if you had made two reservations instead of one. In the bathroom, there's no shower gel or body lotion, just small bars of soap, and only one bar for the shower and sink.

Great facilities, comfortable room, and friendly staff
Breakfast could be improved. Housekeeping hours and service were below expectations. The hotel should remove the live music/DJ from the swimming pool, it does not allow guests to relax and have peace and quiet in the sun.

I experienced very poor treatment by the staff. The employees did not behave in a friendly manner; they did not treat guests with respect. I saw this with my own eyes when they interacted with a French family who was staying there. They spoke to them in a very disrespectful way, and they did not respect even the children in the family. With me as well, they acted as if they did not want guests at all. When you give them a tip, they are happy; but when you do not give them anything, they treat you very badly.

I stayed at the National Hotel in Rio de Janeiro. The hotel itself is beautiful, with a nice décor, but the treatment by the staff was extremely poor. The employees did not give a good impression; they were not friendly at all and acted in a very unwelcoming way. I had an issue: when I arrived at the hotel, I paid in advance. However, when I did the checkout late at night, as my flight from Rio was at 3 a.m., I was in a hurry to go to the airport. At checkout, they told me I had to pay again. I told them I had already paid, but they insisted. They wasted a lot of my time, and in the end, to avoid any further issues, I had to pay a second time so I could leave. The staff did not know how to handle guests properly. They were not welcoming at all. I hope this message reaches the hotel manager.

The Location Ocean View and the great front desk service. They went out of their way to make our vacation a wonderful experience.
That every single like ice was charged and had to have words, with some of the bar staff that this is one amenity that is usually provided by most hotels as a courtesy.

The hotel itself is quite historic, 70's space age cool. The breakfast buffet was great as were the pool and spa facilities. However, the most outstanding part of the entire experience was the staff. From the bell captain and desk clerk at check in, to Caio the concierge helping us with tickets to Sugarloaf and Christ the Redeemer, they were all of kind and helpful. One of us had health issues and Ryan at reception helped us get a doctor to the room who helped resolve the issues. Ryan kept checking in on us through the experience to make sure we were doing okay. Even David at the bar made sure we had coconut water for hydration. A facility is only as good as its staff and they made they stay for us! The rooms were large and comfortable and the view from our window was priceless!
