Disappointing
Location + Staff were very nice and friendly, with great activities to offer.
Very small, crowded, damp, and humid rooms with no towels or convenient bed sheets and covers. The metal bed frames and suitcases boxes were extremely noisy. Wifi didn't reach my room.
The rooms were amongst the worst hostel ones I’ve been to.

Very Good
It was very good.
Amazing people, amazing stuff, a lot of activities, nice decoration and clean.
It's a bit expensive but other than that, I've no complaints

Very nice place, really great location in a safe place and very close to the Ipanema beach
Staff was great and always looking after you.
Best thing was the bar downstairs where is a good place to meet people, specially for solo travelers.
All beds have curtains. Bathroom are big and confortable.
All was good.

AMAZING HOSTEL! This is a “social” hostel where you can hop into various and as many activities as you feel is best for you. Plus, the hostel provided free umbrella and chair at the beach. Room cleaning was two to three times a day which was amazing. Special thanks to Lucas and Cristal; and Estevan and Gabriela. Everything you need to make your stay enjoyable is at his hostel. Plus, a block from the sea, park, restaurants and shopping. Supper “Plush” neighborhood with affordable lodging provided. NO NEED TO GO ANYWHERE ELSE when visiting Rio De Janerio!

I will tell all my friends not to stay in this hostel just because one staff called Eric. Everyone and everything is fine except him. He is not only the most weird staff I’ve met in all the hostels I’ve stayed in all the countries, but also the most weird person. In my 3-day stay, I already had several unpleasant experiences with him.
He called me “workaholic” because I worked for a couple of hours in the hostel one day, made fun of the pronunciation of my name “Keyi” since it’s a Chinese name which he is too stupid to pronounce properly, and talked to me in a hostile way when I checked out, first pretending forgetting I’ve stayed for several days and then asked me “Are you leaving? Going back to China?”.
I had intended not to waste another minute in such a person, who is the worst person I’ve met in Brazil during a month and in my opinion, a racist and a shame to his country. However, I think all my Chinese fellow should have the opportunity to read my comment and NOT TO STAY IN THIS HOSTEL!!!

Although everyone says Rio isn’t safe, we felt totally comfortable here! Great location! The place is super cute, has a fun community vibe, and still manages to stay chill at night. We had some issues with our booking and the staff really went above and beyond to help — I can’t thank them enough!Luggage storage was easy and super helpful too. Would 100% stay again.
Only callout was that the luggage storage was pretty unorganized and rough. I was worried storing anything fragile

Great overall! Great staff, great activities, great location!! Amazing restaurants nearby. Close to a great area on the beach.
There was a bit of mould on the curtain and they are a bit see through but not bad overall, just don’t change with your light on.

The workers at the hostel were nice. Jojo was like a superwoman, whatever we needed she helped us out. We needed a place to put our bags, Jojo was there. We needed recommandations, Jojo was there. Anything we needed Jojo read our minds and helped us before we even knew that we needed it. Amazing experience mostly due to her. Would r8 8/8 m8.
We wished everyone was like Jojo.

I really enjoyed my stay at El Misti. It is a fun party hostel with lots of activities. It is in a safe neighborhood and 1 min away from the beach. They offer various tours which I highly recommend to try. The staff are amazing!
My bed sheet had a stain on it. I asked the staff and they quickly replaced my bed sheet, however the new sheet also had a stain.

I stayed here for about a week and a half and had a fantastic experience. The location is perfect, everything in the rooms were functional, clean, and well maintained, and the common areas were cool little relaxing spots where they served good food and drinks. The staff was helpful, friendly, and super organized, all the marks of a 10/10 hostel.
But what really set El Misti apart was how they supported me when I got sick during my stay, a traveler’s worst nightmare. They helped me find local medical care, helped move all my things to a private room that I changed my booking during that time, made sure I had what I needed, like food, water, and regularly checked in on me to see how I was doing. Cristal, in particular, was incredibly kind, but the entire team really went above and beyond. I’m truly grateful and appreciative. This hostel isn’t just a place to stay, it’s a place that takes care of YOU. That’s a quality that really elevates them among others. 12/10 would recommend!
Ac wasn’t controlled in the Dorms.

Good
Good Location
1) I Had to Change rooms bc the missmanaged by Extension. If I wouldn't had asked, I wouldn't had a Hostel
2) dirty Sheets with blood on it. It was quite big and visible so while changing you could have Seen it.... Then i turned the pillow around and saw another one..
3) mold in bathrooms
4) 6 bed dorm is too small. You can't Open everything to reach your belongings.
5) some of the volunteers don't take care of the guests and just leave. If solo travelers arrive and they leave them in a City Like Rio its a bit shitty

The staff working there is truly amazing - very friendly!
You pay for a private room, which they charge at hotel-like prices so you have the relevant expectations. Instead, I got a dirty room, sheets with stains, hair and sand from previous people (when I notified them, they ended up looking for clean shetrs for about an hour to replace them..), extremely smelly A/C whose filters were probably cleaned, etc etc.

The location is unbeatable only one street away from the beach. There are also many good restaurants around, the area felt safe, and it’s very centrally located. The communal spaces are great, with the bar on the ground level and the rooftop space. It’s a very social hostel so it’s easy to make friends. There are events most nights in the bar area and tons of activities they can help you schedule which is especially great if you’re a solo traveler. The staff is one of the best parts. They are all extremely kind and helpful. Cristal and Jordana in particular answered every question I threw at them and helped me find some of my favorite activities to maximize my time in Rio. The beds have privacy curtains, outlets, a light, and plenty of locker space. The rooms are also cleaned daily.
There is only one bathroom per room and no additional communal showers, so in a room of 12, it could be difficult to get in there in a rush. Most people in my room were on different schedules than me it seemed so it actually didn’t end up being a big problem for me, just something to be aware of.
