Our anticipation was high as we arrived at Chez Georges, drawn by glowing reviews and enticing photos. However, our stay was marred by an unexpected and disappointing experience: the hotel had been taken over for a commercial video shoot without any prior notice. Throughout our two-day stay, one entire day was dominated by the presence of a bustling film crew comprising at least 80 individuals. The public spaces, including the main dining area and adjacent rooms, were rendered inaccessible as they were transformed into a makeshift production zone from 7 AM until 9 PM. Maneuvering in and out of the hotel became a challenge due to the takeover of the entrance area by tents and filming equipment. Furthermore, the common areas were stripped bare of furniture, making them uninviting and impractical for guests. Adding to our frustration, essential amenities such as the elevator and pool were rendered inaccessible during the shoot. Even basic necessities like breakfast became a struggle, as the film crew repurposed a plastic table for our use, leaving us feeling inconvenienced and overlooked. Compounding our disappointment was the absence of a managerial presence to address our concerns promptly. Despite attempting to reach out through WhatsApp, the response from the manager, Letcia, fell short of expectations, with promises to "understand better what happened" failing to alleviate our grievances. While the scenic view offered some solace amidst the chaos, the overall lack of communication and disregard for the comfort of hotel guests left a lasting negative impression. Despite the potential, we regrettably cannot envision returning to Chez Georges in the future.

The villa is beautiful and the view is incredible
We expecting a villa with hotel service but there were no extra services except breakfast and cleaning. Its also unmanned during the evening / night so if you need anything you need to wait until the next morning. Not ideal with kids

The house was amazing very cool architecture on top of the hill with an incredible view. The staff were all very friendly.
It was very hard to get to. Taxi and Uber dont want to drive all the way up the hill and we struggled to get home one night because of this. Also construction was going on all day so not very relaxing at the pool. We had lunch on the property and there were no prices listed (I should have asked) but it was an average fish that came out to $60/person and we felt that was very overpriced.

This area is excruciatingly hard to find taxi. No service at all. No telephone in the room so if you want anything you need to go to the kitchen and get it yourself. No help with the luggage.

Everything about this property is stunning. The rooms, the location and the view!!! Unreal! The pool is perfectly cool and the jacuzzi is lovely at night.

Most zen stay in the chaos of Rio! I literally felt like I was in a different city. The hotel/B&B is absolutely amazing. My room had a beautiful balcony overlooking the pool, and the room was HUGE, with a massive bathroom and the best water pressure in the shower. Breakfast was great and you can help yourself to nespresso coffee and water in the kitchen. The pool is dreamy and the little hot tub was very cute if it got cool at night. The staff is all lovely and very friendly and helpful. It was fun to explore the house and see all the beautiful furniture and books. Absolutely recommend, it was a dream. Also MONKEYS!
It was a little complicated to get Ubers from the city to go to Santa Teresa because of the brick roads and hills, but thats not a fault of the property - just something to know! Also no restaurant at the property besides breakfast so you will need to explore for lunch and dinner - again this is fine as there is plenty in walking distance just another thing to know if youre arriving from traveling and tired etc!

The view is incredible and the staff were very sweet
The breakfast is served from 8.15 only, while the sun rises at 5am. There are no curtains in some sides of the room meaning most guests are awake from around 6:30. Would be good to have the option to have breakfast earlier. When we arrived we were hoping to lay by the pool and relax, maybe have an afternoon nap. This was not possible as the owner was hosting a party in the hotel for about 40 guests, with very loud music. We actually felt like we had to leave and come back when the party was over as there was no space for us to comfortably hang around, wich is exactly the point of such a boutique hotel.
