Casa Geranio is an absolute gem. The design is incredibly beautiful, with great attention to detail, creating a calm and stylish atmosphere. It’s perfectly located—tucked away from the bustling center, yet everything is still within easy reach and right at your fingertips. The property is a wonderful boutique hotel located in the heart of Santa Teresa . The beds are comfortable and there is a lot of thought and intention behind the design of the casa. The staff was extremely wonderful. Astrid was welcoming and always going out of her way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Claudio was always checking in on us and helping answer our myriad questions and giving us the best recommendations on where to go. The breakfast at the hotel was great too- they provided us fresh fruit, smoothies and homemade pastries. Would highly recommend staying here

Stunning hotel in Santa Teresa, the outdoor space with the pool, the lounge and breakfast area is really incredible The owners are wonderful and accommodating and the breakfast is amazing. We loved our stay!
Only downside was the room for us, we had the “blue” room (only one available when we booked) and it lacks some renovation as well as natural light. It is perfectly fine for 2, 3 days but for a longer stay I’d recommend another room.

Santa Maria was our favourite area of the city. The facilities are beautiful, set in lush hillside gardens with flowers, hummingbirds, monkeys. The breakfast offered was without exaggeration, marvellous. It's a wonderful oasis in the city.
We had no issue with this, but travellers should be aware that there are a lot of stairs to climb.

It’s an amazing experience: the place, the view, the house, the hosts. You feel like you are in a rainforest above the city, the view from the pool is breathtaking. Everything is very close: all the bars and restaurants are 10 min walking distance and the neighborhood is very safe.
It’s a must try experience when you come to Rio.

The door to the apartment was terrible. Paint peeling off everywhere. Also the curtains in the apartment were very poor with 2 windows not matching and poor quality, all in all made it look a mess

Great location and the owners Gabriel and Claudio are great hosts who can’t do enough for you. The staff are very nice and polite. It was my second time staying there and will go back definitely. A perfect place to end our last two days in Brazil.

Our stay at Casa Geranio was one of the best things about our 2-week stay in Rio and its surroundings.
The owners are super welcoming and helpful.
The hotel had a « boutique » style making it very charming and with character. The pool offers a breathtaking view on Rio’s Centro and Lapa, we enjoyed it after a long day’s visit or in the morning when we wanted to chill.
Casa Geranio was also our best breakfast experience by very far in Brazil. The fresh dishes are nutrionist-made, always done on the spot, and change every day as well as the cutlery - which is worth pointing out. We even had the chance to have little monkeys as friends during one breakfast.
Special mentions go to Luis, one of the hardworking staff members who was very caring during our 5-night stay.
We will definitely come back to this hotel if we come back to Rio one day.

Casa Geranio is a hidden gem in the center of Rio. A B side, where you can see the city from another perspective. Away from tourists and massive chaos it seems like an oasis, where monkeys come to say hello while you are having your delicious breakfast. Every detail in this place is taken care by it´s owners, Claudio and Gabriel, who are the minds behind this private, well curated and comfortable boutique hotel. We stayed in the room with the private pool and it was perfect. Really looking forward for our next stay here.
This was not a problem for us, but just to have in mind, the hotel has lot´s of stairs and is in area where you have to walk a lot or take ubers to get to places. Additionally there is no food service after breakfast.

We had a fabulous stay. Arrival looks a bit daunting, as you gaze up at steps and spiral staircases (as is highlighted well in the info before you book), but the welcome is excellent. There is a member of the team to carry heavy bags, which they do apparently effortlessly. Good recommendations for local restaurants and helpful tourist advice. Breakfasts are a speciality. Fruit and fruit drinks for breakfast especially welcome, not to mention the other three courses. Quiet, with small but well maintained pool and good service provided throughout our stay.

We loved this boutique hotel, it is exceptionally beautifully designed, has a wonderful infinity pool and glorious breakfasts. We were so beautifully looked after, nothing was too much trouble. We felt safe walking to the bars and restaurants in the area at night, it is a lovely area full of big old houses and there is lots of live music within walking distance but not audible from the hotel. Thoroughly recommend.

Undoubtedly the best hotel I have ever stayed in. What a wonderful place!
- We stayed in the room with the private pool. This was such a luxurious experience and felt so relaxing after a hot day in the sun! The main pool is wonderful as well and has great views of Lapa.
- The breakfasts are incredible. Beautifully presented, fresh food that was different every day.
- The owners Claudio and Gabriel have gone to great lengths to make sure every little detail is perfect. The furnishing and design is immaculate and they have created a place with a wonderful atmosphere.
10/10. If we are ever back in Rio, we will certainly stay at Casa Geranio again!
