I can't think of two better hosts than Carmen and Fernando. Their home is absolutely beautiful and it feels like you're doing a homestay with a Brazilian family. The kindness that they showed me is unparalleled and enough to replenish my faith in humanity even during these trying times! The home is stunning, really a classic place and very clean. I found the shared kitchen area to be impeccable. The location is ideal, just a few minutes from central Santa Teresa and only 10 minutes from Lapa. Didn't get to use the pool as it was raining, but enjoyed the stunning view of the city. Carmen shared a lot of history with me, about the house and the neighborhood. It's really like taking a step back in time, and it's a tremendous way to experience a living part of Brazilian history.
I would absolutely stay here again, but would choose one of the lower level rooms as I had trouble with the narrow staircase and despite the AC, the upstairs room was a bit warm for me (though it was very hot outside during my visit).The internet could be stronger. I don't think these are issues aside from the small balcony room, which is for someone agile. But it's private and has amazing views!

This place is a true gem. The house is amazing and inspiring filled with beautiful art. The room is like a hidden space that you enter through a tiny staircase. Very romantic with spectacular views of Rio. Carmen and Fernando were the most lovely hosts. We felt at home and they even took us to a samba party during the carnaval. The area is very charming with beautiful old mansions and hip places

Beautiful house with lots of art to discover. The room is very cozy and you have an amazing view over Rio. Carmen and Fernando are very kind and sweet and try to help with everything you need. It really felt like home there.
