The breakfast was above and beyond what we expected. Our fabulous host made delicious eggs and the coffee, fruit, and pastries were a fabulous start to our day. Our host made certain we had all the information needed to enjoy our day. We met amazing guests from Belgium during our stay and they taught us all about beer glass etiquette Diogo was about the kindest, most supportive host you could ask for and the location is convenient to the Christ the Redeemer train station, walk 3 minutes. You can even see the statue from the property. Our host also not only set up our 4am ride to the airport, he woke up with us to make sure we got off ok, and did the same the day prior for our daughter. We loved his friendly dog Jeorge.
Loved everything but could be tough if you have a difficult time walking as its at the top of a hill.

The host was amazing!!! And we loved the location. Breakfast was well beyond continental. It was a spectacular breakfast allowing us to start our day. We met another lovely couple from Belgium. Our host gave us fabulous tips for navigating the area. Our daughter and her beau had a very early flight and he arranged transportation and woke with them at 4am to see all went smooth, and then did the same for me and my husband the next day. Such a convenient location to go up the Christ the Redeemer tram one block away. Also, you can see the statue from our hotel in the front yard. Also saw Toucans right on the same street.
Very little that wasn't wonderful, but if you have problems walking up hills or stairs this may not be the place for you.

It is near the rail line for Tijuca in a reserve close to the redeemer. Great breakfast, Helena was friendly and accommodating. We were given a personal tour - it was so good to see the city that way. The monkeys were swinging around having fun with the dog. Peaceful and safe. I recommend it 100%
The hills are always a small challenge yet it is worth going back. The lock on the door entrance needs to be fixed.

Excellent location to visit Christ the Redeemer, less than 10 min walk. Helena gave us dinner suggestions, with in walking distance. Breakfast was plentiful and has something for everyone. The bungalow was quiet, bed and linens were great. Plenty of hot water. Property is beautiful, like staying in a garden.

Helena and Diogo do their very best to make your stay in Rio a great one. I loved the old house with the jungle setting and the views of the valley with beautiful flowers, birds and monkeys and of course their lovely dog, George. Breakfast is big and varied and you will never go hungry. It is a great place to stay if you want to be away from the tourist crowds and stay in a safe and secure area but only a short drive away to the main places such as Copacabana and Ipanema etc.
It's up a steep hill so if you want to walk back it can be a bit of a challenge especially in the heat but there are plenty of ubers and taxis that will take you straight to the front gate.

Wonderful
The property was very comfortable, rustic and homely with a great central location. Very close to Christ the redeemer. The best part of the stay were the hosts who attended to any and all queries promptly and arranged a lovely driving tour of Rio sites which was very useful if you have short time. In the city.
The location was quite high up a steep hill. Its ok if you can walk, but not all taxi/Uber go all the way up!

We arrived very late in pitch black darkness after a long day of travel, but the warmth and kindness we were greeted with made us feel like we came home!

Super gorgeous place, with amazing views and sounds of the surrounding jungle. Also a good location, just a bit of a hill to drive up initially. The breakfast is really good and has a lot of options. Both Helena and Diogo were very friendly and helpful. I would definetely stay in this hotel again!
The only thing that was missing for me, was a mosquito net. We got bitten a lot (even though the anti-bug spray) and if you are familiar with brazil - those bites do itch for a long time and are quite big. If it is possible I would suggest adding mosquito nets over the beds. Overall the eco and sustainability of the hotel is great, but two slight points would make it even better: by replacing the single use plastics in the bathroom (e.g. with a larger soap dispenser attached to the wall), and installing a water filter so tap water can be drank (as done in some houses in Sao Paulo/Rio); to reduce the singe use plastic bottles needed.

Kind hosts, amazing location, you feel like youre in the jungle but still very close to all the important attractions, safe, quiet at night. Helena even prepared breakfast for us to go because we had an early flight to catch. Recommended!

The location of Casa Caminho do Corcovado is stunningly beautiful. You are surrounded by the lush nature of the Tijuca National Park, which includes all kinds of gorgeous plants, tropical birds and playful monkeys! We stayed in the chalet which, while close to the main house, insured privacy and seclusion. We felt we were in the midst of a tropical paradise. We cannot say enough about our wonderful hosts. Each morning, Helena greeted us with a delicious breakfast that included mango, bananas and papaya fruit, freshly squeezed juices, bread, meats and cheeses, and eggs made to order. Helena also baked a different kind of cake for us each morning. The passion fruit cake was our favorite. Helena could not have been more attentive or helpful. She always made herself available to answer our questions and offer recommendations but she was never intrusive. Diogo was also our host. He took us to and from the airport and we hired him to take us on a day tour of Rio. Our tour involved driving through Rio visiting highlights and learning interesting facts about the attractions and neighborhoods of this beautiful city. At the end of the tour, Diogo dropped us off at Sugar Loaf mountain in perfect time for us to go up and see the sunset and then enjoy a delicious dinner at a lovely coastal restaurant. Diogo's tour gave us an excellent sense of the geography of the city and helped us navigate our way around, as we chose to use public transit when possible. We would highly recommend Diogos tour to anyone visiting Rio. We cannot imagine having stayed in a more enchanting bed and breakfast than Casa Caminho do Corovado. We will never forget the incredible view and the kindness of our wonderful hosts. Muito obrigada!
Everything was wonderful. Since we like walking, we didn't mind navigating some of the steep streets and cut-through stairs nearby the property. However, for those that might, these can easily be avoided by taking Uber, which we found to be cheap and reliable in Rio.

We loved it! Helena is a wonderful host, she went out of her way to make our stay the best it could be. Others have mentioned breakfast which is varied and plentiful, with freshly baked cakes and eggs cooked the way you like them. The Chalet is very private, away from the house and you'll feel disconnected from the world up there. Back to nature... The location is perfect as a home base to visit the tourist attractions of Rio, with a bonus of having the Corcovado tram station down the street, literally. Rides cost no more than US$6 to go as far as Santos Dumont Airport, the Sugarloaf or the Museum of Tomorrow (a must see if you have kids). No need for a car! We found a couple of wonderful restaurants nearby. The first one is Taberna 564 which is a minute walk up on the other side of the tram station on Rua Cosme Velho, 564 (hence the name). From the outside, it looks like a small bar with a couple of tables outside, inside it looks like a dive but then you're greeted by wonderful people and the food is amazing. Typical brazilian food, the portions for one person serve two! And the nice thing is that our server told us before ordering, very honest and unheard of even in the US! We had enough for the three of us with our kid. The best part? It's very affordable! The other one is Capitu Caf, 3 minutes walk down on Rua Cosme Velho. An interesting modern decor, aimed at the local artists, it's like the Caf de Flore in Rio. As much as they specialize in coffee, we recommend their food, omelets included. My boy loved the French crpe, especially that he was dying for some Nutella! Anyway, you're going to want to stay longer than planned at Casa Caminho do Corcovado, and we did just that. We had booked two nights in the chalet and Helena accommodated us in a large en-suite room in the house for an extra two. Last... you'll get your exercise walking up the street to the B&B.
Everything was perfect. Access may be difficult if you do not have a fully able body as the street is steep, especially if you take the shortcut stairs (see next to last photo) and you have to cross the tram tracks (see last photo), additionally there are many stairs to get to the property.
