Good location and comfortable room. I recommend to stay if you are looking for a good price.
I just wish they have breakfast, but you can find a lot places to eat near by.

Hotel Monte Castelo was great! My friend and I went to enjoy Carnaval and the location was perfect. At the beggining of Zona Sul, the hotel was close to Lapa/Centro but also of the zona Sul Beaches and Botafogo and Flamengo neighborhoods. The Subway is just 5min away and during Carnaval we felt really safe in the area. The Staff was nice and friendly and there was always someone at the front desk at all hours of the night. The room was clean and tidy.
There are not a lot of common areas or amenities but it didn't bother us as we were out and about most of the time.

Location was excellent. The man at the front desk was very friendly and helpful.
Although the room was recently renovated and had beautiful tile, the bathroom smells. The bathroom is small, much so the sink is outside the bathroom, it is in the room, beside the bed.

It’s a nice, personal little boutique place full of character, without boutique prices, run by some very friendly local guys. Rooms have plenty of comfort and the location is very central in Rio, especially if you want to visit various locations in the city rather than just the beach. We ended up staying way longer than planned (it doesn’t usually book out which is convenient)
The shower was a bit strange - there were 5 knobs and every time a different one seemed to be the correct one. Cleaning could be a bit better, our towels were never changed even after asking multiple times. Note that the area around the corner can be dicey at night, take a taxi.
