Everything was perfect, great value for money, conveniently close to the city and the bus/train station. Perfect connection to the airport.
Nothing really, except one should take notice that the breakfast is in a comercial cafe that is part of the hotel, so there is a little bit of a wait and one should count on it if in hurry.

Photo of the front looked great, hurra for photoshop, restaurant next door had a good burger, water pressure in shower was decent and the pillows comfortable.
Room stunk of raw sewage and mold, the carpet is stained up, and looks like it’s original from when the hotel was built. The WiFi didn’t work, which was no surprise for the staff, when we inquired about it. We checked out after one night as it was unbearable to stay in the stink any longer, staff just shrugged their shoulders like they were used to it. Talked to other guests, who also said their rooms smelled bad. It’s surrounded by a dirty and ill maintained neighborhood, over all a shame, for this architectural gem, they clearly need the money to repair it, would have like to be able to say something more positive, but unfortunately it would be unfair to other guests not to give you a head up.

The room was spacious, looked clean, the restaurant next to it had good breakfast, close to center we walked everywhere
Staff was rather rude, we had an early arrival and asked for early check-in… they agreed and then it never happened. Every employee gave us a different answer about when we could check in. We waited and waisted all morning basically. It would’ve been better just to let us know that they didn’t know when we could check in and then we wouldn’t have waited around.

The location was great - right beside the metro station and within talking distance to many of the attractions we wanted to see. Rooms were spacious and clean. We took the breakfast, which offered a good selection from a set menu.
The check-in time listed through booking.com was incorrect, but they let us leave our luggage to check in later and gave us recommendations on things to see in the neighbourhood.

We had a great welcome from the receptionist as she was very helpful, The staff were pleasant, room was clean and comfortable. Location was great a short 10 minute walk to the city centre or take the tram for less than £1.00 GBP.
Breakfast was a set menu with a limited choice.
The cafe is shared with the public so as a guest who has prepaid you might not get a seat.
no reserved tables for guests.
The public have a different menu at breakfast time.
No plugs in the sink and the bath to retain the water.

There is no handrail handle for climbing the stairs at the entrance to the elevator. The wall to wall carpeting was not clean. perhaps cannot be properly clean.

At first glance, the hotel may seem acceptable, but a closer look reveals a series of serious shortcomings. The most glaring issue is the front desk clerk, whose rude, indifferent, and unprofessional behavior made us feel unwelcome and undervalued throughout our stay. Simple requests were routinely ignored, often met with condescending and dismissive attitudes, which resulted in an intolerable level of service. Adding to the unpleasant experience, there was a strong, offensive sewage odor in the hotel lobby, which was also noticeable in the bathrooms, particularly when the ventilation fans were on. This reflects a clear neglect of proper maintenance.
Furthermore, the hotel's location is in a troubled part of the city, characterized by problematic individuals, especially at night. This resulted in a sense of insecurity and discomfort that severely detracted from the overall experience. In summary, Lion Hotel in Sofia exemplifies poor maintenance and abysmal customer service. Anyone who values their time, comfort, and security should avoid this hotel at all costs. As for the front desk clerk, she represents the worst aspect of the hotel, making guests want to cut their stay short as soon as possible.

The location not far from the center, transportation under the hotel , metro , bus, tranvai ,or taxi, the bed large and comfortable, breakfast in a coffee/restaurant of the hotel . excelent ,lift ,cleaning the room every day , changing towels every day , under the hotel there is" lidle" supermarket the service was good
There was a problem with the drainage of the water in the bathroom but they fix it
