Very sad that the Slot wing is being torn down to create more modern rooms. Those ancient rooms with modern comfort were magical and the reason I kept coming back.

We liked that the building was a renovated monastery. It added so much charm to our stay. The room was very clean. large and comfy. Breakfast was great! The staff were very friendly, and they had tasty, freshly made, cool tea at the hotel's entrance for everyone to drink.

Disappointing
Based on positive reviews we booked this hotel. The location was good.
We were initially given a room that was obviously not cleaned. See photos. Sheets wrinkled, comforter messed, scrunched pillows and the receptionist kept assuring us it was cleaned. Finally were given an alternate room that was clean but the low beam in the middle of the room made us tie a big sweater around it in fear of knocking ourselves out in the middle of the night. Overall not great. Disappointing as we really wanted to love this place.

The location was excellent. Just a few minutes walk from the city tram stop and close to all the touristy spots. We stayed in a family style room which had two rooms and it was cozy and clean.

The most important for me was location and unique look and experience. The room was very small, but it was clean and surprisingly warm. I liked the extraordinary decor and atmosphere. The bonus was TV on different languages.

Very unique setting and great location. Our room was very spacious and clean. Great historic old building worth checking out. The staff was very nice. We were able to park earlier in the day when we arrived as check in is not until 4pm.
Beware that parking is limited and costs €25. We knew the cost ahead of time but most of the spaces were reserved when we were parking.

Great location and the staff was very helpful and they were able to hold our luggage early. They will be 100 % recommend.
The beds are 2 twins put together and my husband felt through the middle.

The bed were big but two twin beds, I would have preferred a single top mattress at least.

It’s an amazing property. There was a front desk person in the morning who was very friendly and helpful.
We would have loved to have had a little later checkout, but they charge extra for that. And €25 for an extra hour so as to not rush doesn’t seem worth it.

We loved everything! The hotel was beautiful, and the decor was simple and elegant. Since it was a former monastery, there is religious art everywhere, but sometimes with a funny twist. There were two lovely artworks of a nun in the entrance hall, which upon close examination, were made up of people's bottoms in bikinis! The breakfast was in a beautiful room and was delicious. The location is great, and is close to the beautiful city center. We loved Ghent! Our only sadness was that we were only there for one night!

Location wonderful and they had parking for 25 euros. Breakfast was good. Room small but this is Europe so to be expected. They had a regular hair dryer (not a wall unit that just pushes out a little warm air) which as a woman with thick hair I really appreciated.
A minor complaint but breakfast area very crowded, difficult to move between tables. Could have used more fruit choices.

Great location. But that's about it. Don't let the charm of the property being a former monastery...the room had broken light fixtures, stair rails and the whole place reminiscent of a youth hostel.
We stayed in the 6 bed family room. It's on the third floor. And during the summer, it gets really warm and there is no air conditioning! So we opened the windows for air, but the issue is that there are no screens to prevent mosquitos! In the middle of the night, we were all eaten alive! And stayed up till really late catching the insects with the windows closed boiling to death.
