This hotel is within an authentic, historic building and it has a time capsule feel. Excellent hospitality. If you are looking for a special experience, stay in the attic room!

Wonderful
Very well located, comfortable room and friendly staff
Everything was perfect for me. The only thing you should take into consideration is that there’s no elevator, but it was not a problem for me.

Exceptional
Fine old historic and friendly hotel in a quiet neighborhood close to the city center. Our magnificent room looked exactly like a Vermeer setting, lovingly furnished. A step back in time.

Good
Breakfast was delicious, and the decor of the hotel is really impressive. A mix of medieval architecture and second-hand but original furnishings. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the city, but on a quiet street.
the plumbing is also medieval, although there was plenty of hot water, which was nice. The cleanliness was acceptable, but not great. The carpets were worn, there was mold in the bathrooms.

Wonderful
A historical building from 1500s made as a hotel. The best way to explore how people of Ghent lived long time ago. A beautiful lunchroom and very unusual (in a good sense) rooms. A grocery store next door. Exceptional hosts. Fast response to all requests we had. Easily accessible by all means of transport.
Very steep stairs (no elevator). No modern facilities/furniture, which is OK if you expect a historical setting of the hotel.

Very Poor
Nothing. We refused to stay here.
The photos posted on Booking.com are EXTREMELY Deceptive!!! I went into three rooms, and ALL of them were equally disgusting. Beat up furniture, no shower curtain in any bathroom, and only mold on the tiles, and a hose hanging. No pictures on the walls, only old paint and ripped screens on the window. All three rooms were extremely small. Not at all like the photos on Booking.com. We did not stay, but found another hotel that day. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! See attached photos.

attentive staff, nice property with spacious room and old world feel, sufficient breakfast
room needed better cleaning to remove cobwebs and dust, window screen had holes allowing mosquitos to enter

We loved the location, the charm, and the very friendly staff. The breakfast was also delicious.
We would have preferred the rooms to not have carpets as they were a little dirty. The bathroom floor also could have been a bit cleaner.

Erasmus Hotel was absolutely perfect for our 3-night stay in Ghent. The hotel is about a 30 minute walk from the train station, and once you're there, it’s ideally located—step left or right from the front door, and you're just 5 minutes from the central historic area everyone comes to see. There's a Proxy grocery store right next door and an Albert Heijn just 5 minutes away for anything else you need. We stayed in Room 8, which faced the street. The room was spacious, with two chairs, a bureau for clothes, and a table setup for coffee and tea. It was serviced daily, which was a nice touch. The bathroom had a bathtub with a hand held shower and no full walkin—which might be unusual for some, but it didn’t bother me (I grew up with that!) Breakfast was included and served in the main dining room—and you can really tell they take pride in it. The spread was fantastic: cereals, granola, fresh vegetables, nuts, meats, cheeses, tea, coffee, espresso, grapefruit and orange juice, and a variety of breads. You also have your choice of hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, or an omelette, made fresh. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend Erasmus Hotel to anyone planning a visit to Ghent!

Breakfast, staff, and location were excellent. The bed was very comfortable.
We had to change rooms to a better one through no fault of the hotel. The wifi is one system and was great in the first room, but weaker in the second room.

Wonderful
Great choice for breakfast; central location, gorgeous large room beautifully furnished. Delightful owner.
Can't think of anything other than maybe better lighting at the bottom of the stairs - I had to take care on the way down.

Wonderful
It is a lovely historic building, right in the centre of Ghent. Room was comfortable, host and staff were exceptional. Very friendly & welcoming, going the extra mile when I needed to stay longer all of a sudden because of a trainstrike. Breakfast was very good and as much as you wanted. Good value for money. Would love to come again.
I liked everything. Just a short warning that this monumental building doesn’t have a lift.

This hotel is hidden behind a large locked door. A woman in the street showed me to pull the bell chain. Inside was a fairytale experience fit for a Royal! The room was large, full of antiques, with a 12ft ceiling. Charming. Breakfast was very Belgian and service was extraordinary! They have a couple of spaces in a private parking garage for $20.

Excellent location. Nice high ceilings. Facilities a little old-fashioned. Shower attachment rather than modern shower. Breakfast ok but coffee quite poor. No bar. Friendly owner.

The hotel is in an old but authentic Belgian building, the room was big, clean, confortable bed, good internet. Breakfest was good, fresh made, served in a nice room with view to the garden. The hotel have privat parking, at extra cost. The Old Town and all atractions are near, few minutes by walk. The host was friendly and bery nice person. Thank you. Recomend.
