The location was great, I love this part of Brussels and the area felt safe. Breakfast was really good. The staff was friendly and in theory, I liked being able to skip the cleaning during our stay (we only stayed for two nights) in exchange for a minibar drink. However in order for me to have been able to join this fully, would be if the room was clean enough to start with, which it wasn’t.
So this hotel clearly puts a lot of effort into making the lobby cosy, there is sparkling wine at breakfast etc.
However, the most basic thing of enjoying staying in a hotel is not fulfilled: the room cleanliness. There was a really bad smell (like sewage) in the room. Most likely this came from the bathroom as there were also small flies in the bathroom. I know the hotel knew about this before because other people have commented on this before me.
The bed linen had stains on it, there was a forgotten pill on our bathroom floor from a previous guest (!), there was food on the floor under the bed where the kids were sleeping and leftover trash from previous guests. The shower had mold stains.
It’s clear that this hotel aims to be somewhat luxurious but for this to be the experience, the basics need to be taken care of. I don’t mind paying more for really nice hotels but this was 300€ per night and for that price, I really think room cleanliness should be guaranteed.

The Michelin star restaurant was an unexpected bonus, with excellent food
The heating in the room was difficult to regulate.
A bit expensive, but I guess that is why the hotel service and staff are a notch above other hotels I have stayed in.

Walking distance to nearby restaurants. Nice evening food and drinks market in the square 200m away on Thursday eve.
The hotel restaurant was only Spanish cuisine. Bar needs to be separate.

Walking to Grote Markt was a bit of a hike but certainly doable. Art museums were nearby.

I want to share a serious security issue my family and I experienced during our stay at the NH Collection Hotel Brussels Grand Sablon from 22nd to 24th August.
Upon arrival, everything appeared in order. The check-in was smooth, and the staff were courteous and welcoming. However, the situation changed drastically that same evening.
After checking into our room, we left the hotel around 8:30 PM to have dinner nearby. When we returned a few hours later, we were shocked to discover that our in-room safe had been forcibly opened and all our valuable items had been stolen.
We immediately reported the incident to the front desk, but were met with indifference and a lack of any meaningful support. While the police were contacted and an investigation is ongoing, the hotel staff’s response was alarmingly apathetic.
The next morning, I spoke with the Duty Manager. Unfortunately, the same lack of concern persisted—no urgency, no empathy, and certainly no sense of responsibility. I expressed my concerns, including the possibility of internal involvement, given the nature of the break-in and the unbothered attitude of the staff. These concerns were casually dismissed as “unfortunate circumstances” and “coincidences.”
What’s even more troubling is the hotel’s lack of basic security infrastructure: there are no surveillance cameras on guestroom floors, and no security personnel on site. This makes it alarmingly easy for anyone with the right tools to access rooms and safes undetected.
While I am not directly accusing anyone, the circumstances and handling of this incident raise serious red flags. I strongly urge anyone considering a stay at this property to be extremely cautious and not to leave any valuables in the room.
Something is fundamentally wrong at this hotel—and until it is addressed, guest safety cannot be guaranteed.

Everything! We stayed here at the beginning and end of our trip and what a great way to start and end the vacation! The location was great, the room was big and clean, the bed and pillows were comfortable, and the decor was modern. The staff were very helpful but I especially want to commend Charles for his friendliness and hospitality. We were lucky to be greeted and served by him. He gave us information on what to do and which restaurants to check out. On the last leg of our trip he was also extremely helpful when we needed some help with the rooms. Absolutely amazing service from Charles. Highly recommend this hotel.
