I specifically booked a junior suite NOT in the new "wing". They still put me in the new wing. NO FIRE ESCAPE staircase shut. Totally unacceptable!!

The fact that the hotel was under renovation and I was woken up at around 7.40 in the morning with banging and drilling then went off and then back again 20 mins later and then again ... not cool , I should have been warned in advance of the stay that this was the case ...

Location was great - said to be in an unsafe neighborhood but i didnt spot anything bad
Could not produce an invoice matching the price I paid. Emailed them several times, every time the invoice was a bit off. Then they stopped responding. So, not ideal if you have to declare expenses.
Mirror in the bathroom was broken, hot water wasn't always a given, poor sound isolation so was a bit noisy at night

Easy to access, helpful staff on reception. Comfortable bed. Good shower and toilet facility
The rooms walls are outdated. The corridors are also outdated and could do with more lighting but other than that it’s a great place to stay

Excellent location, close to nice walking areas with lots of food and cafe options.
The room had no window and you can hear everything from your neighbours’ rooms. The room below us was loud and noisy both nights until 1AM. There was also loud construction on floors 3-4 with banging from 8AM until late. On our final day the fire alarm rang at 7AM and the staff gave no information to the guests standing outside.

Nice room, newly renovated (but looks really retro, and is very yellow — someone made a choice and i respect it)
biggest surprise - shower had copious water pressure in the rain shower nozzle which is very nice
the elevator is a bit tiny and gets congested.

the rooms have lots of character and the staff is very friendly. I have stayed here on several occasions for work and like the proximity to the commercial area as well as good connections to the EU quarter
there is a lot of construction at the moment and they started preparation above my room at 6am every morning. the walls and ceilings are not soundproof at all, so it was extremely loud at a very early time of the morning

I always stay at Le Berger as I love the quirky rooms and old fashioned vibes, the beds are comfortable and the breakfast is decent. A great choice if you like a historical hotel with a bit of character.
Since the new ownership a few things seem to be slipping - e.g. needs a bit of care and attention here and there. I also organised a breakfast box as I'd paid for breakfast and then realised it only starts at 7am. I spoke to three separate people about it to confirm, including the breakfast team the day before, but then the breakfast box was not available when I went to collect it before leaving. If it's not something they can do they should have just said something and refunded me the 16 euros rather than confirming it would be possible as it was a bit of a hassle while rushing to leave at 6.30am. Also, there was no hot water for a bath in the evening, which was the main reason I booked a room with a sunken tub, so that was a real shame.
