We booked a classic room in the "Residence" and I would not recommend anyone ever having a courtyard room unless the hotel changes their policy on how they light it all through the night, or they find a way of the fixing the curtains so no light bleeds above and around them and into the bedroom. The whole area is floodlit all night long, with bright spotlights by each bedroom window. It was like daylight but even brighter! One of us woke at 1am and didn't get back to sleep all night due to the amount of light flooding in over and around the window curtains. Not long afterwards, the other adult woke up and neither of us could then get back to sleep. We were exhausted the next day and this ruined one of our precious days out of our mini break. We complained to Reception during the night and then next morning. After a fair bit of haggling, we were allocated a different room in the "Residence" (number 34) and this was much better as away from the courtyard and at the front of the building and on the street side. Whilst this ended up being a free upgrade as such, we didn't receive any refund for our night around the courtyard nor for the fact we didn't sleep at all, were too tired to enjoy the next day, including the breakfast, and we ended up wasting a fair part of that day sleeping! We were told the lighting has to be there for security but we would totally disagree with this as there is absolutely no need for this level of lighting, given there's only a tiny slope/incline around an otherwise very flat courtyard area. That only needs some localised floor level lighting and then around the rest of the courtyard would only need dim lights. The photos taken inside the courtyard room don't really show how light it was in the room all night. The photos taken from the bedroom facing out to the courtyard were taken at 3.30am!

I didn't like getting a twin bed room as I was on my own and would have preferred a double. I found the pillows a tad hard.

There's nothing to dislike, just a recommendation, the shower cubical in our room wasn't the best sealed, could do with your maintenance personal to look at this.

Having to park around the corner in the next street wasn't ideal but it would be impossible to provide anything better when in such an old developed area.

Minor things. Hairdryer was difficult to use and the pillows were too large and difficult to use. The bed was also made unevenly, ie the duvet was all on one side.

Breakfast overpriced. Details promised mini bar, bath robes and an out door space for seating non of which were available

Had to move rooms because of drain smell in first room - they must have known about the smell but put us in the room anyway. Then they lost my shaving mirror in the transfer.

There was a steep stair to reach the room. We were travelling with my parents, who were 76 and 80, so it was not convenient.
