Excellent position, all facilities very close to beach. Reef just offshore creating very safe shallow swimming area. Very friendly staff. Very clean. Room very nice, comfortable bed, good bathroom. Breakfast excellent. Drinks good. Plenty of towels and good quality soft ones.
The only things preventing rating of exceptional was the evening buffet which could be hit and miss and a cocktail menu was hard to find.

Disappointing
Lovely location.
Fed up the with the food after 2 days so we ate out a lot. All inclusive drinks were cheap quality, even the orange juice just tasted like cheap sugared water. There was a dead wasp in an arrival drink we were offered . We asked for extra beach towels (was told no as there was a strict one towel per guest policy!) this was clearly not the case looking at other guests around us. Menus in the premier restaurants were dirty and ripped. Pool looked like it could do with a good clean, it was cloudy and dirty around the sides, also massive unexpected trip hazards on the pool floor and made from the sort of material that really causes grazes and scrapes. It was also far too small for the hotel size. Not enough effort made to clear the little bit of seaweed that got washed up on the beach causing lots of sand flies to be present.

The cleanliness, the friendly staff and the buffet options
What I didn't like was the lack of sitting for the "special" restaurants. We were unable to get a reservation for the Japanese restaurant and had to take a earlier reservation for the Steakhouse restaurant.

beach and pool was great breakfast was good other meals not so good bartenders great everyone was friendly and courteous
sizzle steak house the filet was great and the stripe steak should have been sent back, but really they should not have served IMU restaurant was a BIG disappointment

Wonderful
It had been a very enjoyable stay in Sugar Bay Resort. Special thanks to Latina at the concierge who has been super helpful. All the staff in the resort are very friendly, including those in the concierge, restaurants, room services and on the beach. We told the concierge that the bathroom fan is not working, by the time we came back from the beach few hours later, it was fixed, super!! All restaurants are good, quite a lot of choices and foods are delicious. The resort is right on the beautiful beach. The sand is white and soft.
Only issue visitors should notice is all restaurants are closed from 4 pm to 6:30 pm.

Great beach on the South western side
Beautiful little bay with the hotel in the beach, excellent food and after 8 nights was always good , loved the gym , all interiors are in good condition outside needs a spruce up
Cleaning of passage ways and areas where guests may not be every day is not done regularly . Pity the sporting side especially sailing is not available

On the beach, smaller hotel enabled more bespoke service. Great staff and great facilities for our stay. Lots of choice food wise to cater for all tastes. Hotel. Beach was beautiful.the men who worked on the beach were so helpful. All hotel staff went above and beyond to make our stay magical

Beautiful property directly on the ocean.
Its a beautiful strip of beach with clear, calm waters. We got upgraded to a suite which was excellent. Food was very good and staff very polite.
Wish there had been a deeper pool for swimming. Pool was very shallow.

I visited alone and met so many friendly people during my stay. The property is exceptionally clean at all times. This is a smaller, more quaint resort, which I loved.
One of the only complaints I had was not having enough hot water for my showers. The rooms are very nice otherwise and mine was oceanfront and had a gorgeous view.

The location was nice. Food was decent.
Our room smelled like mildew and the air conditioning didnt cool down the room even though it was turned all the way to the coolest setting. Also, the sheets on the bed were ridiculously stiff and rough More like sailcloth than bed sheets.

The two restaurants are very good - highly recommended. Buffet food in the evening is ok but not great. Like most buffet experiences , keeping food at the right temperatures is a challenge. There is a good variety though. The beach , loungers and swimming are the best part of this resort - location is fantastic. The beach bar is also great. Attitude of the staff can be a bit variable but that was true of everywhere we went on the island.
The all inclusive buffet is very busy at breakfast and if you dont get down there early you could be waiting a while for a table. It seems inadequate for the size of the hotel and number of guests. And nothing happens quickly - even when there is a line of hungry and impatient people

What a fantastic small boutique hotel. The staff really couldn't do more to make the stay perfect. Everyone just seemed so happy. The daily menus in the buffet restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner were amazing.
If I had to find something that could be improved it would be the pool. It was quite small and despite being for adults had a lot of children in it. It didn't bother me as the beach was fantastic.

Easy walk to race course, Barbados museum and George Washington house plus to see racehorses swimming on beach

Get to beach early to get a parasol , lunch service sometimes patchy
