The Hotel Grand Sarajevo is as presented on the booking site. We got our twin room with a television & a bathroom. The beds were comfortable, the staff were professional and nice and it was good value for the 1x night we spent on our flying visit to Sarajevo. One of the best facilities was the wifi as roaming data in Bosnia & Herzegovina for someone from the EU cost a lot of money so as much wifi as possible was greatly appreciated over there. It also boasts quite a nice view of Sarajevo (see photo). I have listed everything we encountered but for the cheap price of the hotel for a night, it's nothing major and definitely was up to standard for the price tag.
Overall, it definitely was good value for money, it served its purpose and we had no major issues. I would say it's appropriate for short stays but longer stays without driving or if you want to avoid taxi's or lots of walking before you really get into the city centre, perhaps consider a more central location.
We found that it was quite easy to hear anyone/anything in the hallways from our room and I suppose that would then concern you that conversely, people in the hall would probably hear you in your room. I also recommend to always lock the door when you are inside the room as our door would open by itself if not locked with the key.
Additionally, while the bathroom and shower fulfilled its purpose, the door on the bathroom was not fixed on the lower part so even when you did slide the bathroom door closed, there would be a gap where the door should meet the doorframe so you may not have as much privacy as you wish. The bedside table also needs to be re-mounted to the wall as one side was loose (see photo).
Most notably, the only real issue we had was the hotel's location to the city centre and the old town. We got a taxi from the airport to the hotel and on a Friday afternoon, it took longer than expected, according to google maps it's a 20 minute drive from the airport but on the Friday afternoon it took almost 30-40 minutes and is a 2 hour walk to the airport. The hotel is a 45 minute walk to the city centre or a 10 minute car ride. There isn't much public transport closeby, when we asked people, most recommended a taxi to get to/from the hotel. According to maps, it's a 20 minute walk to the closest public transport however, as Bosnia & Herzegovina is outside of the EU, once you leave the hotel, you must use your roaming data if you want to rely on your phone for maps/info which is very costly and even with that, the maps on my phone couldn't provide any info RE public transport. I downloaded the local taxi app "mojTaxi" which was a life saver although, taxi's aren't expensive compared to our home country/countries nearby so it wasn't a major issue. However, I would reconsider booking the hotel again if we returned, mainly to be closer to the city centre and not have to rely on taxi's so much.

It was very noisy. There were 100 kids in the hotel at the same time as us and it was very loud. The hotel accommodated us by putting up in a different room but the kids were still running up and down the stairs. Also the breakfast food was a little old. Seemed like it was prepared from the night before. Fruits was sour.

The rooms did not have plug points. When I informed the reception, instead of offering me another room, they provided an extension cord that had to be connected to the only outlet in the bathroom. Additionally, the room had a moldy odor, and the bathroom did not appear clean. I had booked the room for three nights but checked out the in 30 minutes after my check in.

The hotel is outdated. Everything. And there was unpleasant smell in the bathroom. It takes more than 40 minutes to reach the old city by walking. Nearby public transport was 10 minutes away.

For the price I paid, I would expect a bit more general cleanliness. There's no staff to greet you or give you directions. The shower was clogged and the water wouldn't run. The room felt very humid, and there was little ventilation since it was in the basement. It was the cheapest option I found at the time, but I wish I hadn't.
It could be modernized a little more.

Hello,
I would like to file a formal complaint regarding my highly unsatisfactory experience at this hotel. I booked a specific room through Booking.com, but upon arrival, I was surprised to find that I was given a completely different room.
When I inquired about this issue, the reception staff responded with unprofessional and rude behavior. I asked for compensation—especially considering that I paid extra for the original room—but my request was refused in a disrespectful manner. One staff member even insisted that if I wasn’t happy with the hotel, they could cancel the reservation and warned that I wouldn’t find another hotel as cheap as this one.
Moreover, the cleanliness of the hotel was far below acceptable standards, and the quality of the food served was very poor.
I kindly request that you review this complaint and take appropriate action.

unprofessional behavior and attitude from the receptionist. she kept the ID card as a guarantee that the amount for the stay would be paid. I asked to see the hotel rules to see where this rule was written. she refused to show me. I asked to speak to the manager, but she refused to call him. I asked to call the police, but she refused. Here, a basic law on personal documents was violated. A hotel employee has no right to refuse to return the ID card and justify that it was not paid. I wanted to pay according to the hotel rules on checkout. But the administrator forced me to pay in the middle of the stay in order to get my ID card.
