Fair
The bed pillows had a stale smell to them as did the hallway on the way to the room smells very damp and water damaged possible mold. There was a lot of noise
The elevators were broken down most of my stay and inconvenienced! There were no clear instructions on catching the ferry ride to an from the other property and no private flamingo island

Wonderful
The people could not have been nicer. It was truly just such a great experience, and the hotel staff were incredibly friendly. I truly felt like everyone was really happy to help, however possible, and were authentically just so happy to welcome us in for our vacation and show us a good time. Twice, we went to hand a cash tip as a 'thank you', and had the people refuse to take it, telling us "it's a pleasure and blessing to have you here". We're truly not any kind of special guests, but were certainly made to feel that way many times.
The location, and not being on the Eagle Beach strip, was actually a major plus. We had to take taxis for all excursions and dinners out, which is an expense we were more than okay with. The main strip up near Eagle Beach is really touristy, and being removed from all of that by a 10-15 min taxi ride (~$15) was ideal. Worth noting, this hotel is walking distance from our favorite restaurant on the island, Lima.
The beach was incredible. Our primary goal of this trip was maximizing beach time and just relaxing, and Renaissance Island was the perfect thing for that. After seeing the main beaches up north, we were so happy with our decision to stay here and have access to this private island. Get out there early for the best seats (more on that below).
The only thing I have a complaint about is that I think the pools and beaches could use a little more enforcement around chair saving without using them, or maybe a better system for reserving chairs. You have to be among the first on the island to get a good spot, which is fine, but some people go out there, claim a ton of chairs to themselves, and then go MIA for literally hours. We saw it every day that we were there. On one of the days, a group of 6 chairs sat "occupied" with towels on them (nobody actually using them) for over 5 hours. We heard that there's a general rule that if things are left unattended for over an hour, staff will clear the space and allow others to claim a chair, but that's not actually happening.

Wonderful
Walkable to downtown and all nice restaurants. Availability of pool side seating. Room is a decent size even for a family of 4 or 5. Balcony is great with the rooms overlooking the ocean.
Rooms weren’t as clean as expected. Floors were definitely not scrubbed before we checked in. Staff especially the managers at the front desk were rude and not very accommodating. Other front desk staff was fine.

Exceptional
Location was perfect, central to all of our activities. Breakfast was ok.
We were told breakfast started at 730 and it wasn’t until 830. We would’ve planned differently with the correct info.

Wonderful
This is a luxury high rise, so it was expensive and lots of people. Proximity to beach and entertainment was very good. The Flamingo Island was Absolutely a MUST! (We went twice). Know that without the all inclusive package, Breakfast for 2 will be around $65 us. (Eggs and Pancakes.) Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Parking, while free, was a bit of a hassle to get to. We had no other complaints.

It’s an adult only resort and it’s quiet for the most part! Super clean and the bars stay open pretty late! Also, love the free access to flamingo beach!

The access to Renaissance Island was the best part of this stay. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Pool was great! Rooms were nice.
The resort could use another hot tub. The carpet panels in the room were dirty. It was mostly vinyl flooring so it wasn't a major concern.
