The pool area is amazing. The gardens and surrounds make you feel like youre in paradise.
Only negative was the unit being right where the waterfall is so could be a little noisy, but wasnt really a major issue.

Pool was perfect, had good facilities
The rooms had mould. We complained and moved to a different room but the mould smell seemed to be in all rooms.
I assume its due to the humidity, once we aired out the room it was okay.

Poor
The location & the pool.
The property is dated. Needs a lot of maintenance.
Was not even close to value for the money we paid.

Wonderful
Very comfortable, relaxed hotel
Great not having to eat out each night with facilities in the room
Very convenient shuttle bus to drop you at local places but only a ten minute walk into town anyway
The only downside were the long waits for a drink at the lagoon bar.
Inexperienced bar staff but know this is shortage in hospitality generally

I liked that the property is very well laid out. Everything is close by and easy to get too.
Enough pool areas for people to access and enjoy without feeling over crowded.
Staff were accomodating at all times.
A larger pot to cook in would be good, as we had to split the pasta packet n cook twice.
More dish soap, maybe a refillable one like the bathroom has would be awesome instead of the satchels

This is our 6th time returning to the Portsea and its a fav at port Douglas due to its great location and the pool is a hit with our kids.
We stayed in a room called deluxe but it felt more standard. Apartment was very cosy for 2 adults and 3 kids (thankfully didnt stay in apartment much) but the main bathroom was a spa bath shower which was so hard to get in and out of. My son actually slipped getting out of this spa bath (after a shower) and badly bruised his back. The kitchen was also too small for prepping meals. This was my least favourite apartment of all the ones we had stayed in the past and it was closest apartment to reception so quite noisy at night.

Our room location was perfect as we had a dual key superior as we had to cater for elderly parent in law so being on the quiet side and no stairs was a bonus. I also appreciated that we had multiple accesses available for the main pool or the beach. We didn't bother with breakfast and just kept things on the cheap with getting our own. Plus for the time of the year being on the beach side meant lovely breezes.
USB chargers in bedside lamps were awesome.
Cleaning was a little less than par from 5 years ago when we were there and a lot of the little touches have gone mostly I suspect due to COVID. There used to be a spa for massages etc but that has gone also. Prices have obviously also taken a hit.
