Everything!
This was a wonderful motel, actually the most wonderful one we stayed at in our months long vacation in Australia thus far as it just felt like “coming home”, it was simply relaxing, welcoming, comfortable, peaceful and made you feel like you were at home which was amazing.
We had parking below the motel or on the street out front - both worked great.
Our king room was very comfortable and had more than enough space with everything we needed and so much more to make one comfortable, plus the motel offers SO MUCH to their guests while staying here that it is astonishing… from beach towels, umbrellas for both beach & rain, pool and beach toys, carts, eskies, books, toys, games, IPads, laptops, the list goes on &on… they gave information on all activities surrounding Port Douglas AND it is just steps from 4Mile Beach and on the end of Macrossan Street, so close to restaurants and shopping. Just a perfect motel with wonderful hosts and if we ever have the opportunity to come back we will most definitely be staying right here!

The location was superb! The room had all the amenities and gadgets for us to enjoy breakfast in our room. We loved having access to the bikes and coolers and chairs for the beach!
We visited in the rainy season. The rain was loud on the roof.

Location to the beach. The equipment that was provided for free use (coolers, umbrellas, bikes, numerous pool and beach toys, umbrellas, and plenty of towels) was phenomenal! The pool was great too! Staff was exceptionally courteous, helpful, and friendly. Love this place!

The front desk staff were amazing from answering questions pre-stay to booking excursions and rebooking due to weather issues to incredible friendliness, they made the stay great. The amenities offered at hotel from beach chairs to anything you can think you’d need are fantastic.

This property has absolutely everything that you could possibly need for a perfect vacation! Right beside the beach and so many shops and restaurants. The staff here felt like dear friends as soon as we met them. Definitely sad to leave.

We loved this hotel!!! Charming, bright, clean, with so many amenities and beach/vacation equipment free to use! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful - they gave us itineraries, made bookings for crocodile tours, and plenty of suggestions. Check-in process was incredibly easy. Can not say enough great things about this property!

We had a 1 bedroom rental for a week. The furniture and kitchen were well appointed. The location in Port Douglas was perfect for easy access to 4-mile beach and walking to town for shopping, restaurants, and sightseeing. We borrowed the bikes for a beach and town ride. Although we had a small balcony, we did not have a view and there was no privacy on it.
The only complaint I have is that the WI-FI signal was too weak to handle the guest demand, so we had to use our own data and the streaming TVs would not work. This was particularly frustrating in the evening when we wanted to stream a show before bed and could only watch a "spinning circle". The staff was helpful and lent us a personal hotspot device when I complained. The hot spot worked until other residents discovered the network name and jumped on it too. High speed WI-FI is expected and should not be an issue for rentals in 2025. Aside from the WI-FI issue, I highly recommend By the Sea Port Douglas.

It was in a great location and was very clean- the girls were Freud sky and super helpful and have thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable
My legs didn’t like going up two flights but the view was worth it and I would recommend the superior view to anyone

if anything the location
room was very - very small. at booking of this venue we got additional info about the size of the room and builder work behind the hotel... room indeed is very small but worse... it is stuck at the back-end and had no day light (Room #1) So we were aware of the builder work - which did not bother us at all... we knew the room was small but really too small to stay with any comfort...
We simply asked if there was another room available... and got a bit of a hostile response (probably an email template) which stated that the hotel did not take any responsible for us booking that room as they had shared additional info...
All in all a place you can sleep in with hardly any comfort at the back-end of the hotel with hardly any day light.

The ladies running the hotel are amazing! So friendly & extremely helpful. Really above & beyond on all of the little extras they provide—everything you possibly could want for a beach vacation is there for your use free of charge. Great location—Property is only steps from the beach & quick walk to restaurants/bars.
Space was a little tight in our unit & air conditioning struggled to keep cool.
