The Schlosshotel Römischer Kaiser is one of Vienna's most traditional hotels, offering an ideal city center location in a quiet side street of Kärntner Straße. The Karlsplatz Underground Station (lines U4, U1, U2) can be reached within a 5-minute walk. Built in 1684 and family-owned since 1904, this small baroque palace is only a few minutes’ walk from the State Opera, the Hofburg Imperial Palace and St. Stephen’s Cathedral. All rooms at the Schlosshotel Römischer Kaiser are fitted with a flat-screen TV with cable channels, a laptop-sized safe and a mini-bar. Coffee is also available in the lobby, 24 hours a day. A rich breakfast buffet is available from 07:30 to 11:00 and breakfast can also be consumed in the privacy of your room. Loved the vintage building and the location. All staff were met were wonderful and room was very clean and cleaned up daily.
The room was warm. They had a nice fan we used, which meant opened windows all night. Great idea usually BUT noise made it impossible to sleep! Noise until 11pm and started again at 4:30-5am! Too hot to close the windows and too loud to sleep.

The location was great and we liked the original traditional interiors.
The air conditioning was not working. This was confirmed in my booking but also the room booklet says it is available April to October and it was not. I complained to reception and was told it would not be turned on until June and there was a fan in the room. We were on the top floor in the roof section and it was hot and humid. We had to have the window open and the fan running all night every night and were woken up by the street cleaners and bin men but had broken sleep throughout the night. The members of staff I complained to had an arrogant dismissive attitude and her boyfriend was sitting on the floor behind the reception desk also. All of the other staff were great.

A lot of things didn’t work eg airconditioning. Rooms were very small. Very expensive for what you got, charging as 5 star, but only 2 star! Overall very disappointing.

The beautiful hotel offers luxury stay walking distance from the Vienna Opera House, St Stephen Dom and Museum Quarter to name a few. From the welcoming arrival they offer comfortable & spacious rooms with decent coffee. In the lobby information for sites, restaurants and even the weather are available on request. There are a coffee station and comfortable lounge at the entrance, even has umbrellas for the guests. The attention to detail, staff willingness to assist (even recommendation for "apfel strudel") make this hotel one of the best I have ever stayed in. Highly recommended.

Brilliant location, close to shopping,, Stepensdom and Staatsoper. Perfect for us. It's on a pedestrian alley which makes it nice and quiet. Most delicious breakfast. Lovely spacious room.
