Hotel Royal is a beautiful hotel with a charming historic character, and its location is simply unbeatable. It is right next to Stephansplatz, surrounded by plenty of shops, restaurants and shopping streets, which makes exploring central Vienna on foot extremely easy and enjoyable. The U3 metro station is also less than a minute’s walk from the hotel.
Our room was spacious, very clean and air-conditioned. The furniture has a lovely classic style with some modern touches, and both the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom was a little small, but nicely renovated with modern décor.
Breakfast was good and reasonably varied, although some guests may find the selection a little limited compared with larger hotels.
The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and always pleasant to deal with.
Overall, we had a very pleasant stay. The fantastic location, cleanliness, comfortable room and friendly staff make Hotel Royal an excellent choice for anyone who wants to stay right in the heart of Vienna. I would happily stay here again.
The main downside for us was the traditional room key. Unlike the electronic key cards used by most hotels nowadays, Hotel Royal still uses a physical key and provides only one key per room. This can be slightly inconvenient when two or more guests are staying together and want to come and go separately.

We had an excellent stay at Hotel Royal Vienna! The location is truly unbeatable — literally just steps away from St. Stephen’s Square, making it the perfect base for exploring Vienna on foot.
The hotel was very clean, with comfortable and pleasant rooms. The staff were friendly, exceptionally polite, and always willing to help.
A particularly pleasant surprise was the restaurant on the 10th floor, which offered a wonderful experience and made our stay even more enjoyable.
I would definitely choose Hotel Royal again on my next visit to Vienna. Highly recommended!
The only thing I would suggest improving is the breakfast. I would have appreciated a little more variety, with some options changing from day to day, as it was essentially the same every morning and, personally, I found it a little repetitive. Of course, this is purely my subjective opinion and in no way takes away from our overall very positive experience.

Amazing central location, very good breakfast, spacious and modern interior of the room despite being an older building, helpful staff.
Paid for half board as was a good price, however the only option was a four course meal which was required to be booked in advance, which we found very inconvenient with a small baby. With the additional burden of multiple calls and enquiries from staff enquiring about our dinner plans every day, we found this to be more of a burden while travelling and wishing to have some flexibility. A more flexible drop in option would have been preferred, with some limited selections from the à la carte menu.

The location of this hotel can not be beat. It is steps away from the subway, plenty of restaurants, and around the corner from St. Stephen’s Cathedral. The breakfast was included and had so many great food choices, in addition to juices, tea, and a coffee machine that makes custom drinks.
