Vienna's oldest hotel is located directly in the city center, only 164 feet away from Saint Stephen's Cathedral and in the immediate vicinity of many other sights. Founded in 1746, Hotel König von Ungarn (King of Hungary) first served as the guest house of the archbishop and is especially popular with cultural travelers and lovers of opera, concerts and theater. The name was inspired by the Hungarian nobility, who used to stay here in the times of the empire. In the adjacent Mozart House, Mozart composed “The Marriage of Figaro”. Hotel König von Ungarn is mentioned in books by Sándor Márai and Julio Cortázar, among others.

In general we love this hotel for it location, staff and general feel.
The bathtub in room 101 is “dangerous” to get in or out of. You worry about slipping every time you take a shower. It is a hassle to put the mat every day and get in/out. It is high and not easy to use.

Brilliant location and lovely "classic" hotel vibe fits in perfectly with a visit to Vienna. The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive, and the facilities of a high standard. Everything is really close by and easy access to the metro and and public transport, also a great range of restaurants and entertainments in easy walking distance.

I've had a great time in Hotel König von Ungarn, the staff was lovely, the breakfast had a good selection of egg dishes and everything else was of good quality. The room (Double room) was spacious and the interior had a great vibe. My room was next to the elevator but it was fine, noone was using it after 10 pm so it didn't affect my quality of sleep. The TV had streaming services on it which was an unexpected positive. The location could not be better with St Stephen’s Cathedral being next to the hotel and the subway station within 5 minutes of walk. Overall I would recommend the hotel for solo travellers for sure.

All are good. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, especially at the front desk. Room was spotlessly clean, spacious, and very comfortable, with a fantastic city view. Great value and a truly pleasant experience. I'll definitely be back!
