This family-run hotel offers a very central location in a quiet street in the heart of Vienna, just a 10-minute walk away from Saint Stephen’s Cathedral. The spacious and modern rooms and suites of Hotel Das Tigra are air-conditioned and feature satellite TV, a mini-bar, safe, and a bathroom. In the morning you can enjoy a rich breakfast buffet with many typically Viennese dishes. Famous Viennese sights such as the State Opera, the Hofburg Imperial Palace, the Burg Theater and the Graben, Kohlmarkt and Kärntner Strasse shopping streets can be easily reached in short walks. The Herrengasse Underground Station (line U3) is only a 3-minute walk from the hotel. In 1773, Mozart and his father lived in a small apartment in the historical part of the hotel building, which dates from the 16th century, when they were invited to perform in front of the Empress Maria Theresia at Schönbrunn Palace. At the façade to the left of the hotel entrance, you can see a memorial plaque commemorating Mozart’s first stay in Vienna.

It is fairly close to tourist sites. We visited during Christmas markets and there were three (including the Rathaus) in close proximity. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good.
Our room was not very functional. We had no place for our luggage. Had to ask for a luggage rack and we also used the long desktop for a suitcase. I understand it is a very old building, but the space in our guest room could have been used better. Only one side of the bed had a USB outlet. We would have appreciated a larger area in the lobby to gather with friends.

Wonderful
Lovely hotel, a little away from the “centre” but still less than 15 min walk to most of the important locations. Given the crazy costs in Vienna at this time of year, this was a very good compromise. We opted for a larger room and that was a good move - very comfortable. Staff helpful and nice lobby areas appropriate to this older style hotel. Very good breakfast!

The breakfast was wonderfully varied and delicious, the room was very comfortable, the staff were friendly and attentive to all our requests, and the lobby’s lounge and bar made for a perfect place to relax.

There seemed to be some miscommunication with my booking. I may have made an error when I made my booking, but the hotel thought we had asked for a child's bed to made in the room. We don't have children so this wasn't necessary. When we got to the room we just folded up the bedding and the staff took it away when housekeeping visited the following day. The positive was that it meant he had a large room with a sofa and sitting area we were able to enjoy. The room was clean and the staff were polite. The location was good, and we were able to easily walk to most of the major sites.

Wonderful
The hotel is well situated. The staff are pleasant and helpful. The breakfast is one of the best I've had in a hotel.
There were problems with the hot water at times and the free WiFi has no security on it.
